How do you lock your RV Poll

Warning the paddle is master keyed.. if that is all you lock then anyone with a dealer key can get into your rig..

Maybe I am missing something but if our key locks and unlocks the paddle and dead bolt why wouldn't a master keyed key unlock both if our key does both.

We do two things. First we put the dog in and say "watch the house". Then we use the dead bolt.

no for some reason it does not

but just so you guys know there is maybe about 100 different keys (for the bauer locks), so at any given campground there is probably at least 1 person with the same key as you that will open both the paddle and the dead bolt

just like my old cavalier, my brother inlaw and i both had one at the same time and our keys would unlock each others cars
most companies have only a certain amount of keys before they start recycling them

New cars are mostly keyless. Even my dodge truck uses some type electronic pod that I push into the dash. Wife's stayes in her purse.

A master key opens all similar locks that are keyed the same with small diffeences. Our keys are not masters that open the paddle...it is the Dead bolt that is keyed different.

Same as the storage keys.....they are common locks, the paddles are the same common locks.

This summer I locked my keys in the trailer.....I borrowed a set of keys and open the storage and climbed into the trailer and open my door. I have since installed a different lock for my storage compartments, as well as a set of keys that are hidden so that if I do the same thing again I can get in!

I have the keyless entry as well that works the deadbolt, I was told by the dealer that it has a generic code from the factory, but once you change it to the code that you want it can't be opened or the code changed until your code is put it to reprogram it.. I may have to look into it as I sure didn't know someone could reprogram it.. Thanks for the heads up..

Lock both at the CG, neither at home. Logic I have is it is more likely to have someone try to break in home and I'd rather not have to fix the door as well as replace anything that could go missing.
At the CG, I figure it is more likely to be a convenience theft or even an inebriated "lost soul" thinking they are at their place.
We also have the a three layer four foot alarm system much of the time at the CG (KeKe, Pepper, and Daisy) who will thoroughly inconvenience any intruder until they are given treats.
(Another reason to keep it locked: Pepper once got out at a CG and could not be caught until he found a family reunion with 20 children to entertain).

I do not lock it at home but sometimes do use the dead bolt at the CG but I have a x17z and if I do not close the ends and lock them it would be easy to break in so I figure it is kind of a wast of time but it makes my wife happy....
