How do you wash your TT / MH when you're on the road?

I'd like to wash my Greyhawk more often when I'm away from home. Some places I stay it's very inconvenient, or not allowed at all. And now with colder weather it's harder yet. Jayco recommends against commercial washing.

I don't remember where, but I was at a truck stop (probably Pilot or Love's) and saw a TT lined up with the semis at the truck wash. I don't want to try that without knowing more about it, although it looked convenient and easy. I assume it must have been brushless.

Does anyone take their TT or MH through a commercial truck wash?

I let Mother Nature wash mine. Seems to have always worked- except for removing the smashed bugs on the front. The price is right, too.

When nothing else is available, I use a spray bottle I keep for washing windows and a bag of rags.
Especially the front. Usually have a solution of dawn in the bottle.
Helps to keep is from getting too bugged out.

I stopped at a truck wash one time, but it was closed. Also, was about $25 do it yourself.

At the KOA in SLC, they had a high bay wash just outside the CG. $5 do it yourself

I've used a commercial truck wash and was very pleased. They used a power washer and hand brushes and did a very good job. They would have added a wash and wax for a few dollars extra. I will do it again as many campgrounds don't allow washing on site and we do a lot of boondocking where water is not available.

Scout out a firehouse or school and maybe you will find a fund raiser going on with some kids and sponges...

I would probably steer clear of a truck wash due to some cleaners used which may eat at aluminum and/or your roof. Another option is the self service power wash centers found in some areas. For a few dollars and using your own soap you could get your unit clean if it is that bad.

I have gone to a self serve along with my bucket, sponges and rags (when they are not busy) and go for it. Last week I was staying at Thousand Trails in Seaside OR & they offered opportunity to wash on your site for $5. Would have done that but it was rainy all week.

When I was in Alaska for over three months, My Greyhawk and toad got dirty a lot of times. When going over the sprayed gravel and dirt mix they put on for temporary roads they mix in a chemical to keep the water on the dirt longer so they don't have to spray so often. That turns the dust on you vehicles into a hard crust so you have to wash it, like it or not. My Dear Bride and I washed them both many times. Up there they have a lot of car washes with RV bays and we would do them there and some campgrounds with gravel parking lots would let you wash there. We got rather good at it, but it was necessary. I don't like them dirty and it is not good for the finish no matter what kind you got.

I wash ours at home with brushes, rags and lots of water. Here in Az I wash it with a bucket of water and microfiber cloths. Sometimes I have the mobile wash guy do it top and sides for $100.

We use Blue Beacon commercial truck washes all the time- Can't beat the price and they do a good job- They have experience with all metals and plastics- They have a reduced pressure that is better for rvs- JMHO- DD
