How important is your TV (Television)

Just wondering how important is your TV while camping? As for me I could care less about a TV.Very seldom do we ever turn it on.

We don't even have one in our TT.

Added the "No TV in camper" option to the poll. I'm more than likely the only one to check that one!

The only time the TV is on when camping is when it is raining and we can't be outside. Even then, we often read, etc. instead of watching TV.

Barely watch it. Kids will watch the overcab tv while we are in motion. I usually donwload movies for them and they watch them on the way to and from the cg or b4 bed time. Keeps them quiet and me [emoji4].
So not that important but definitely comes in handy. BTW our Greyhawk has 4!! [emoji38]

I only watch if it's raining and sometimes turn the race on the outside tv. DW would not go without one but doesn't watch it that much. Maybe a hr. or two at night.

Most CG’s we stay in get only a handful of OTA channels. I will program the TV when we set up just to see what’s available and then turn it off. It’s not our main point of focus when we’re glamping. As others have said previously it’s a nice thing to have when you have to get out of the weather.

We like the TV. My wife isn’t big into the outside fire thing, so we often times watch a movie as a family in the late evening once the Uno cards are worn out. In the morning I like the watch local news if near a place with reception. That’s about it.

I try to keep up with the local weather where we are. Maybe watch a movie on DVD. That's about it.

Ah I thought you meant TOW VEHICLE. That’s funny the last thing I want to do camping is watch tv or look at my phone so not so much. My tow vehicle is very important

The grandkids love to climb the ladder to the cab over bunk, close the curtain and watch tv in the evening. They think they are roughing it

It’s really just for news & the weather for when I’m moving up or down the coast and thru the mountains.

Oh...you mean television, not tow vehicle. Cuz I was thinking the tow vehicle is rather important for getting anywhere.

I like having a television in the trailer, but we do a lot of camping where there's no OTA and/or no cable. When it's available, I like to have the television on to tune to the news, or whatever. Noise factor. Call me addicted.

We don't have a television in our sailboat, though. Books suffice.

That said, I sure like my smartphone for watching movies. With luck, I'll have enough signal and bandwidth to make a hotspot for my laptop. If not, plugging in a set of headphones and watching a movie or documentary on the phone itself is just fine. Funny how, once you're immersed in a movie, you don't really notice you're not watching on the 75" screen at home.

Don't have or want one in ours, we want peace and nature when we're camping. Haven't even turned on our sound system other then the day we bought the camper, just to make sure everything was working. We have books, our own music, and each other for entertainment while camping, it's been enough for the past few decades.

We agreed on watching only a DVD late evening and that's it for watching anything while camping.
Last time staying in Jacksonville Florida had to watch weather channel none stop due to Dorian hurricane and good thing we did. We had mandatory evacuation and drove west away from the shore.

There was a time when a TV camping was a no-no. Keep in mind that we tented then had a pop-up for many years. In other words no electricity. We bought a 17' hybrid and started to get electric sites more often. Then we went on a trip where it was raining crazy hard into the evening. We were bored silly. Our daughter went next door to watch TV in my dad's trailer. We were planning a big trip out west and decided to get a TV to keep up with weather reports. This was before smart phones were a practical every day thing.

Now we rarely watch any local channels. We keep a ton of DVDs in the trailer to watch at night or when it's crappy or cold out. We take the TV outside sometimes on October trips and watch Packer games.

We don't "camp", we "glamp".

Our RV is our "home away from home" and used almost exclusively as a seasonal home instead of a "camper" with stays that can and have lasted for months at a time in one place.

So we have ours setup with as many "comforts of home" as possible including 2 TV's, residential fridge, on demand water heater, residential mattress/furniture. We also have high speed internet and reliable cell service to boot in the parks we stay in.

To each their own!

I don't ever use the installed radio, but am not going to rip it out.
Rarely use the shower and it is primarily used for storage, but it will remain.

Point is why is this a poll? Since the ranking shows that over 50% use their Tv with some regularily Jayco isn't going to make them optional. If you don't want it, just unplugand remove. When you sell down the road, you had better have saved as it will be ecpected by most any buyer.

Because inquiring minds want to know. It's just a fun thread, to take your mind off some of the problems folks post.

We use ours quite a bit, but I won't say we actually "watch" it all that often. Most of the time we're just in the camper to rest between activities or to sleep at night. Or if it's too hot outside, we go in to cool off. My son is turning into a bit of a movie junkie (just like his dad). I like to sit and watch a movie at the end of the day to "unwind" before bed.

I will usually try to aim the antenna so we can get local programming in case we need to catch a weather report or something. Once when we were boondocking at the beach, one of those OTA channels played old Bill Nye the Science Guy episodes. DW and I watched that as kids, so it was fun to share that with my son while we ate breakfast.

DW loves having cable at the park when it's available, but all she'll watch is Food Network; drives me crazy. The picture is almost always garbage, and I'd pretty much rather watch ANYTHING else. But you know the saying ... Happy wife and all... We don't have cable/satellite at home, so she sees it as a bit of a "treat".

We have several DVDs in a wallet that we tote along. It helps to be able to play one of my son's favorites while in transit. But we also play games, color, read, DW crochets, stuff like that, when stopped or even at the dinette while in motion (belted in of course).

We've gone without the TV several times with no ill-effects, we always find something to do. So that's why I voted "Watch but not that important".

We have two but not very important since most of what we watch (at night after the sun goes down) is streamed via my cell service. As someone else mentioned, on rainy days we'll watch OTA television (fake news and sports) in between reading and listening to music but days can go by without either TV being turn on.
