The SPs near us in Louisiana and south Mississippi run between $18-$24 w/hookups. All clean, well maintained and some with new restrooms, rebuilt since Katrina.

We stayed at Oak Mt last year for a few days last summer on the way back from Elkmont in the Smokies. We picked that park because of the size, location and activities available. I must say that after paying their higher than normal fee I was disappointed with the poor condition of the basic amenities. There was also several permanent campers staying in what appeared to be some of the nicer sites with junk building up around their rv's. Perhaps the powers that be should stop investing in perks like the BMX track, archery park and petting zoo and clean the bathrooms and replace the broken picnic tables.

We like the semi rustic places also but will camp most anywhere. We tend to go to many places we like more frequently. Right now we are going to as many Georgia SP's as possible. We get the geezer discounts, some states give them to all and some just to state residents. Also there are some that have veteran discounts, etc.

COE parks are great and if have the Golden Age card even less.

You have to ask almost everywhere.

I just made a reservation at a Illinois state park. An electric only site was $25.00. Then there was a $5.00 booking fee plus I'm sure there will be a small entrance fee. I just also made a reservation at state park in NW Wisconsin. An electric only site was $18.00 plus the booking and entrance fees.
FYI, I booked a full hook up site for this August at the Niagara Falls KOA, it was $97.00 a night, the most I have ever, ever paid. It wasn't the most expensive either!

Va state parks range from $30.00 and up depending on what is at the parks. They have been going up for the last several years but few improvements are being made to the campgrounds. Will soon start to look at other options if they go up much more. One person on the board has said he wants state fees to be the same as private CG fees and it looks like he is getting his way. He owns a CG that is private with a lot of rules so few will camp there. Blames it all on public parks.
