How to secure step ladder?

Hi there,

I have the Jay Flight 27 BHS which has a built in ladder in the rear going to the roof. There will be times when I would like to have a step ladder such as for sweeping the slide out roof when it is wet outside or for other things. I'm looking for ways to mount the step ladder to the roof ladder. For security I assume the best idea is a cable and lock. I really don't have room in the pass-through to store it.

Get one of these. Over-the-Ladder Chair and Bike Rack - Camco 51490 - Bike Racks - Camping World

Put it high to hold the top of the ladder. Secure the bottom with a cable bicycle lock.

I have the 7' GPL ladder FI linked. Works good. And it stores in a 5" vinyl fence post sleeve just like the sewer hose. Check my Mods Link for pics. Have not had any issues (knock on wood!!!) carrying it in the post sleeve under the trailer.

I actually have the 6' version. Worked well when I had the lower tow behind, but not sure how effective it will be with the 5'er. The five thing about the 6', one side rung version is that it folds and fits in the 4"x4" rear bumper.

I have a single sided 6' version of that ladder. The narrow rungs are murder on my feet unless I'm wearing seriously sturdy shoes (think low top combat boots).

Personally, I would look into making some kind of a rack that ran under the trailer sideways that you could put a regular stepladder in.
