How to tell when trailer is level

As a noob to the trailer life I'm still trying to figure out how to tell when the trailer is level when parked. I got one of those levelling tools to use but it came with no instructions on exactly how or where to install it properly. Currently my wife and I look at the trailer and say looks pretty level which is not working so well.

To be honest, your trailer is never level on a global scale, because the frame has some flex and the build quality isn't that fantastic. The question is: how much tilt is too much, and what part of the trailer do you want to be perfectly level?

For me, the answer is the counter and stove area, so I put a level there when I level the trailer. But I find that other places will not show as level after that. However, the secondary area I would worry about is the bed, but that's a bit more forgiving of a few degrees off, so I just use the countertop.

Buy one of the little kits that has two levels. One is for side to side and one is for front to back. Mount them somewhere that you can see them easily. Side to side level usually on front corner of nose and front to back on front corner of sidewall.
I made sure mine would say correct level before I stuck them on by leveling trailer with a regular level on floor inside. Side to side level and front to back level. Then go back outside and stick your new trailer levels where you want them mounted (they usually have super stick double side tape, don't screw them on). Make sure when you stick them on that they show level (because you know it is level).
Now when you park at campsite level camper side to side first by using blocks or something under tires until you little indicator (level) says level. Now disconnect tow vehicle and either lower or raise front jack to make trailer level from front to back. Chock your wheels and enjoy a level camper.

i used those nice straight paint lines to help mount my little levels too. The black one on nose and the white one on side

We've used an inexpensive circular bubble level (looks like a 'bullseye') for the last couple of years. It's not mounted, it just sits in a cabinet near the rear door till we need it. We take the level out and put it on the floor just inside the rear door (we have checked other areas, too, to be sure our spot on the floor was OK). There are more sophisticated tools and techniques, but it has worked for us.

After you have leveled, use a level check your fridge to be sure it is level (or close to level), too, until you are confident of your leveling process.

Having it outside the trailer seems much more convienient to me but ours came with screws and I'm hesitant to drill holes into exterior. Perhaps glue? Thanks all for suggestions.

3M trim moulding tape (stuff they use to attach trim on cars). Any auto parts place will have rolls of it. Crazy sticky stuff, just clean area with some rubbing alcohol to remove any wax before you stick it on.

Suggest you chock your wheels before you disconnect from tow vehicle

To check level we use a can of pop, beer, or whatever is in the fridge. "eyeball" level the TT. Go inside. Place can of pop on the floor near the middle of the TT. First check pitch (for and aft) then check lateral. If the can rolls then it's not level. Can will roll to the low side. Adjust camper with tounge jack for fore and aft after doing lateral adjustment. Works great. It's simple and cheap. When you're done leveling. Drink the beer.

The only way without auto level is bubble level mounted above each rear tail lights and 2 mounted in front of TT and 1 mounded flat on TT ball mount and you still never get it perfect.

Auto level is unreal just push the button and its all done for you in under 1 min.

More than one way to level. I just place a 2' level on the floor a foot or so inside the main door. Than I can just look inside the door to check level.

For me, it depends on what version of "level" your talking about.

I can get the trailer itself level by all the usual measures, but the REAL test of whether I have successfully leveled the trailer is when the DW isn't making comments about how the eggs in the frying pan are all sliding to one side of the frying pan!!!!! ONLY THEN, are we considered level!!!

For those of you who have an iPhone, there is a level app on the phone. A person might use that inside the trailer, TT or FW, on the floor or countertop to level the trailer. Has a bubble with a center spot to tell you if it's level. However, I have used, for year, the little levels that stick on the front and side of the trailer and try to get the bubble in the proper position. I can usually tell if I'm not really level if the bathroom door knocks me down the stairs when I don't close it securely, LOL.

I use an app on my phone called Bubble Level and lay my phone on the counter. Works well and free!

X2 Works great. I level side to side before I unhook. Then block the tires and unhook, then level front to back. Satisfies the government inspector every time!

I have a large level mounted to the front of our TT and a small level mounted on each side. I use these to get the unit relatively level but, my final check is the small bullseye level in the fridge. It is usually spot on with the outside levels but if I need to tweek anything I go by the fridge.

The dealer put a level on the front of my old jayco 23rb, it started moving around after about a month and then I noticed the screws were stripped.

I keep my old 4 ft level in the pass through storage and when I back in I put it on the rear bumper to check. If it's not acceptable I get out the Anderson levelers. A tad high on the slide side is ok since it drops after the slides go out.

After that's accomplished and I'm unhooked I wife watches 18 inch level on the floor near the back door to level front to back. When she says it's good I go inside and put it on the fridge just to make sure and make myself feel better.

We used to do a similar process, but now when SHE says OK, it's OK by me.
