We took the most southern detour CO-115 and US-50 to reach Jame M Robb Colorado River state Park-Fruita Section.
The drive provided some spectacular scenery and views of many rafters going down the Arkansas River.
Minimal traffic and enough passing lanes that we didn’t really hold up too many vehicles. Monarch Pass did slow us up a bit but we eventually made it to the top! The only traffic delays were caused by road construction along the Blue Mesa Reservoir.
It wasn’t our route of choice but made for an day we wouldn’t have otherwise experienced.
FYI, the other detour Highway 82 over Independence Pass has been completely closed Wednesday after numerous backups and incidents as semis and vehicles longer than 35’ try to detour around the Interstate 70 closure through Glenwood Canyon.

Yeah, there isn't a real easy bypass for that route. Mountain passes either way on the southern routes. Independence Pass is not a RV friendly route, for medium to large size rigs. 80 is probably the least traumatic, but IMO way less scenic.
