I think I'm going to do it!

"What are you going to do?" you may ask.

"RETIRE"

It is time, I'm old, life too short

Boise City used to be the north end of my territory in my field-manager days. I will retire in 34 days. I've been working in telecommunications for over 43 years, and I'm totally ready to be done. I picked up my retirement present on August 3rd, (TT listed in my signature) and we're going to give it another go this weekend at Dinosaur Valley State Park down by Glenrose, Texas. Go for it, Shorty! I'm right behind you!

Go for it! I retired just over a year ago. Now every day is Saturday (except Sunday, which is special).

Well, if I had to do it over again, I'd do the same thing and retire at 62!

Medical insurance can be a problem expense wise. But, if you can afford to go, do it! Life is too short to not enjoy it before you wake up on the wrong side of the grass!

Awesome, congratulations. I am just under 11 years from a regular retirement and pension... but if I stay an additional 3 years we have a pretty good deferred retirement option program that I would have to strongly consider...

We have so many plans for the future, but we are trying not to wish away our youth. I'm envious of all the retiree's here though! Hope you have fun, hope finances don't become an encumbrance and you stay healthy.

Way to go, you'll love it. You won't love things like dealing with Medicare and retirement income, but retirement is good.

FWIW, I had originally been planning to retire when I turn 67 at the end of this calendar year, but early last year I reached the point where I had "had it" with my boss-created stress (great guy, love him to death as a person, but he couldn't manage people for sh*t), and turned in my retirement papers for Sept 30 2015. Then I took my accumulated vacation and personal time and left effective Aug. 15.

Never looked back.

BTW, medical coverage is really expensive in retirement if you're under 65. Ain't exactly cheap if you're OVER 65, either, but it's a lot better with Medicare.

Good luck!

Roger

I'm in my 9th month of retirement and it was all a big mistake. The plan was to go 4 years ago, but I decided to wait until some investments matured and my income would be greater than when I worked. Now I find that I have a surplus every month and I didn't need that much money after all.

We used to camp maybe 10 days a year and go out in the boat 7 or 8 times. The problem was that when you only had weekends you were always fighting bad weather. So far this year we have camped about 40 days and been boating 26. Summer isn't even over yet!

I have found so many interests to pursue that I can't remember how I got things done when I was working.

Did I mention that I don't need to take Tums every day any more.....LOL.

No it was all a big mistake.....I should have done it years ago...

Congratulations Shorty! I worked a 30 year career as a firefighter/paramedic. I retired in July, 2008 and really didn't enjoy all of my time off. I went back to work as a Dean's Assistant in our local high school, I work 36 weeks and enjoy the entire summer off.
