I bought a portable ice maker for our trailer and have had it for 3 years, it is not as reliable as the day we bought it so we are going to purchase a new one next spring. I can say that we used it for 3 years and we camp approx 24 weekends out of the year plus 2 weeks of vacation. I like the convenience and it has definately paid for itself in the three years. we spent approx 100 bucks on it. I would highly reccomend one to any new camper

I guess I'm the oddball here. I can live without ice, and have for years.

I am not sure you are an oddball.....to each his own. I use ice for the cooler (I don't have the outdoor fridge) and cocktails. That adds up to alot of ice . It is convenient, and it does not cost me more money.

We started using ice maker this past camping season called salton. Plug it in on the outside of the 5th and fill with water in the morning and empty at the end of the campfire. What is left over goes into 2 litre cooler for the next day use. Saves lots of freezer space and trips into 5th
