It does help considerably for keeping cool.
Never leave awning out if we are not there. Our camper is 2015. Been in storage for 3 years. Hope it still work. How do ya get black Alge off?

No, it's not safe. I have seen a number of awnings ripped up in the wind. I had a strut bent once by just a gust during a thunder storm. Tying them down at the corners helps in moderate wind. I made some quick-disconnect tie-downs for the awning corners that I can undo when I leave without having to take the anchors out of the ground.

Get a few Magic Erasers and a bucket of water. We used them on out original white awning, and they worked well. We usually did both sides of the 14' fabric, and mostly went through 4 sponges.

Oh, you might want to take a couple of aspirin afterwards. It can be tough on the arm muscles!

Has anyone noticed; We are 3 pages deep, and the OP hasn't ever responded?

I think everyone is kinda wasting time here.

Responded, no, but she's been on, and probably reading the responses.

That's why I let my daughter be in charge of the awning cleaning.

Magic Eraser is tiny beads of microplastic
No thanks I am not using them because I like my pure groundwater and clear lake

Considering the square footage of many awnings, it doesn't take much wind to blow one around, especially if it isn't securely braced. There is real potential for damage to parts of an RV other than just the awning. Members of our camping group had severe damage to their rig's roof resulting from broken pieces of the support arms being thrown up over the roof.

Well, no not really. But the chemistry clearly is beyond you. It's based on a melamine compound that is a foam. If it was sandpaper it would emulate a P15000 wet or dry. The roughest P type wet or dry used in auto paint restoration is about a P3000.

You are so disrespectful. I am not stupid but you are behaving like a donkey.
I live on a closed system and do not want to ingest melamine residue that gets into my well . We have a well and we have a septic. And the RV sits on our property.

I have lots of experience with sandpaper but not that fine.

Foam or microbeads.. They are all pollutants. Melamine is a biphenyl which is related to PFAS. Those bad boys have contaminated the soil in several Maine farms , rendering them unarable. The farms are seeking monetary relief.

Seriously? If you want to gamble, leave it down if you’re leaving the campground.
If the wind gets gusty, it may not just damage your awning, but probably also the side and/or roof of your camper, and any others near it. In my many days of camping, I’ve SEEN at least two smaller campers get TOTALED by the damage that can be done by high winds and awnings. The body of the trailers were twisted. And I can’t even count how many trailers I’ve seen severely damaged by the awning and attachments beating on them by high winds.
Certainly not worth the risk to me!
