Is the extended warranty worth it for 2400

Absolutely NOT -- take the amount it would cost, put it in a separate savings account for any repairs after the two year warranty and you will be well ahead.

If the warranty, factory or extended, covered water leaks and bad caulking the maybe -- but I can tell you already it doesn't. Even Jayco's factory warranty is only 90 days on caulking and seals.

No - and ask them if it covers you for any dealer, or just that dealer. My guess they will say anywhere, but they won't be able to show you that it will cover you anywhere. I agree, after the factory 2 year warranty that covers everything including tires, you won't spend $2400 for repairs unless you damage something, and then it will be covered by your insurance company.

Aftermarket extended warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.. Save the money and enjoy camping more..

I have read in other threads on other forums where owners got some good benefits from them and were happy. I do extended warranty inspections and often find safety and usability issues owners were unaware of, some significant.

The last two owners had bad home hookups they were unaware of: 1) one had a bad ground, used a lightweight cord and had low voltage. 2) the other had a bad connection between his extension and rig power cords.

One owner had just purchased his one year old used Class A and the front cap had problems with the seams, either from damage/poor bodywork, or improper mfg installation AND an unusually heavy amount of chassis rust.

Another owner was running outdated tires he had recently purchased at a good deal.

So, I do know the inspections have value in connection with obtaining an extended warranty - at least the ones I performed have paid for themselves up front regarding safety and user issues.

In general though I'm a great believer of doing inspections and most of the service work myself, which is why, despite being retired, I have taken inspection and service training, and worked hands on for a short time at a dealership.

But I also do other weird things like reading the classics, rather than entertainment novels.

This time next year I will probably buy either a Seneca or a used Newmar dp.

I agree, as a matter of record I am one. The majority of EW actually refund some of the cost if you sell or trade before the term is up. We just got money back when we traded the SENECA even though they paid to replace the radiator the year before. It was a $1,600 expense that they covered no its ands or buts. Most will also cover "mobile service calls" that Jayco will not cover.

Just my 2cents..

The main thing to remember about all extended warranties for any product is that the sellers sell them because they make a profit on them.

So do all auto insurance companies as well as life insurance companies. Most extended warranties are backed by those companies as well. I know Great American Insurance is one of their big underwriters.

Do the mfgs and dealers sell for a profit? If they do I will truly be horrified.
