Is the Extra seal necessary expense?
On our new 2017 White Hawk 23MRB, do we need the extra "seal" on interior and exterior for an extra $895? The dealer is telling us the regular cost is $1500. It's supposed to protect against cosmetic damage.

I passed on it. Never regretted it six years later.

Not necessary. They are just trying to upsell you something that probably costs them ten's of dollars to apply.
If you are worried about it you can wax it yourself for a fraction of that cost. You can also do a stain guard on the upholstery as well if you want.

Extra seal? what extra seal? what are they providing?
I doubt it?
From what I am gathering above it sounds like Scotch guarding the furniture, and some kinda wax on the outside. Does not sound worth it. If my guess is right, you can buy a couple cans of Scotch Guard for a few bucks, and do it yourself the first night at home, while the unit is perfectly clean. The outside we just wash and wax (combo as I am to lazy to wax our htt).

We went for it. It's a special polymer coating on the outside to protect the surface/decals from fading, streaks, sap, tar, etc. not just a regular wax. The interior also protected, and warranted against cosmetic damage, including tears. Probably could have done without it, but thought it would save us time/money in the long run. One of a hundred decisions, but at least it's been decided. Picking up the White Hawk on Friday.

Hmmm, a polymer they say. Love that term. Many, many natural and synthetic compounds are considered polymers (a combination of smaller molecules called monomers). Wax would be considered a polymer.

I opted against it for my TT. If you're really losing sleep over it, I would price compare against a local detailer or body shop with a good reputation. I would be shocked if they weren't significantly less expensive.

That's okay. We got a good deal on the total purchase, and now I'm protected against mayhem. I'll let you all know down the road if I think it was worth it.

Anything extra is a money making scam normally. Buy the rig and leave. Use the forum for better info in the future.

If there wasn't anything in it for the dealer, they wouldn't do it. They honestly could care less I assure. Save the $300, $500, or $800 and spend it on better products to maintain the finish. Ask any experienced RVer, and / or full timer.

Yep! You need it and undercoating and plastic seat covers.
And, for an extra $950.00 plus tax, we'll throw in some of Uncle Raleigh's Nerve Tonic. It will give you muscles, help you lose weight and even put some vrrooom in your love life!
It's even been known to fix stripped gears in an automatic transmissions!

We purchased our MRB last November. We didn't purchase any of the extra "sealants." I work with many "fabric" vendors and all admit that the after market stuff is questionable.
