It’s all Over - Thank You

Allow me to thank all the moderators and members past and present for participating and contributing to this incredible forum. I have learned a lot from this community and hope to have given a little in return.

Some of you might remember my post a couple months “Leaving Sites for Others” ... well as of today the JayFlight has been re-homed so another family can make some memories of their own.

The thought of not camping truly is bitter sweet. We know migrating to a vacation home from a RV is the right decision for our family, but I love camping. Between my work travel (100 nights/yr), kids activities and the challenge to reserve sites in California we saw our TT use deminish significantly. We hope a second home will give us the ability to go away much more spontaneously and keep building those memories.

The final piece to the puzzle for me was learning about www.outdoorsy.com. This way we can grab a Class A or C once or twice a year for a quick camping fix; but not have the responsibilities that come with ownership.

For those thinking about selling...

The JayFlight was listed on CraigsList Saturday 7/28 and was sold 8/3. I didn’t provide my phone # in the add; used CL email relay, and mentioned in my add responses needed to convince me they were “authentic” before I would share my phone and address. The TT was priced well ($12k) and in great shape; I received significant interest and ZERO scammers. I could have sold for more, accepted $10,500, but I enjoyed meeting the family who ended up with it, they paid in cash and they had a 3/4 ton TV which made me feel they would be safe on the road with this unit. It was fun to see them pull away excited to schedule a trip.

I’ll likely check in on this bunch from time to time, keep up the good work and courteous forum.

We have sold a few on CL using that same strategy and it does help.

Your active participation will be missed.

Happy trails!

All the best to you and your family in the new vacation home. The fact that you can always rent a class C if you and the family get the urge to go on a camping trip means you don't have to give it up completely.

Enjoy!

Enjoy the new chapter in your life! I'm sure you'll miss camping and all the memories you've made but not the hassle of getting reservations, towing, set up/take down, and especially the dump station .

Blessings to you and your family as you enjoy your new vacation home.

Also, thank you for sharing how you successfully sold your camper on CL without dealing with scammers.

Good luck out there!

DW tries to convince me every now and then that we need a beach house. So far I'm winning, but I know it won't be forever. I told her our motor home IS a beach house, and a river house, and a mountain house, and a guest house, and a hotel... We're trying to be more spontaneous with the motor home than we were with the trailer, and so far it's working somewhat.

I hate that it's getting so hard to get reservations at the places we want to visit, but we're going to keep at it...
