We have only been camping for the past 5 years and have absolutely enjoyed it. 99.9% of the people have been wonderful and friendly and we have stayed in both private and state parks. Most of the time without issue and have even had to ask a few times for help and assistance and have always received a lot of help when needed. I feel that it goes with the saying “you can’t choose your neighbors” and for the most part it is only a day or two and new neighbors show up. I will say that we have appreciated the extra amenities offered at a typical private park, like a KOA. Costs a little more, but I feel that helps keep out some of the rif raft.

We have been camping for about 5 years now and in that short time I've seen everything from complete stupidity to the niceness people ever but this past year has been the worst the worst I have seen was in July in petoskey mi very nice campground as our neighbors were leaving the guy proceeds to start cleaning his sewer hose on the picnic table spraying it out with his drinking water hose absolutely disgusting there's just no respect anymore then just a few hours later another family pulls up I had to tell them what the previous guy did to their table I just can't belive that so many people can be that ignorant

last spring we were leaving Rico's Campground in Red Rock Canyon and off the side of the exit road we passed by an older 5th whee parked off the road.. I stopped to ask if they needed any help and then noticed the guy was dumping his black tank in a small culvert. I yelled at the guy, asking what the hell are you doing.. He acted dump founded saying his valve was broke.. Yea right.. I called the Ranger Station whom was just right up the road.. At a latter date i found out they cited the guy... I hope they threw the book at the idiot.

I have a saying when we are camping “ Like a good neighbor stay over there “ . And have you read the New bestseller book titled, 3,000 ways to be rude and obnoxious in a campground….

When he complained about his truck being almost against the building, trying to get it in the correct way, I probably would've responded....well then maybe you shouldn't be driving...

My wife and I are lucky enough to be off work all summer. Some of our best trips are arriving on Sunday evening or Monday and leaving Thursday or Friday.

My PNW Coleman Collector Club had a reservations last weekend at a state park Group Camp. The Group Camp has 10 water electric sites. Due to Covid, and the Canadian border closure, it was poorly attended. No worries.

However, Friday night around 11 PM, someone pulled into one of the unoccupied sites near the entrance of the Group Camp and set up a tent. By 8 AM Saturday morning, they cleared out. No one had any idea who they were. Just cheap night squatters, I guess. At least they were tidy.

My initial campsite investment 34 years ago was $3000. Initial taxes were $100 a year, escalated to about $500 now. We camp 20+ times a year (year round) and each time ads no more expense. I estimate that in all these years I have saved thousands in campsite fees.

The positive side is that I can pee in the bushes and nobody cares or even can see me. I can safely target shoot and its not an issue. But most of all, nobody cleans poop on my picnic bench or desecrates my site.

To each his own....

Fortunately this is what I do as well. I love coming in on a late Sunday afternoon when everyone else is leaving, and usually leave on Friday morning. I avoid weekends at all costs and never camp over the summer holidays. Just don't want to deal with it. In my neck of the woods, getting reservations during the week fairly easy but not as easy as it used to be.

I find it amusing how it's always someone else that does something stupid and never the observer.

Back in the years 1980 to 1990 we pulled over at a roadside rest.Today no! People are crazy out there. When we camped at a privet owned campground we had problems. People partying all night. Then we went with KOA still the crazies were there but much less. Now that we are retired we get there Thursday nite and pull out Thursday around 8am. The one thing that gets me pissed are people getting ready to pull out at 5am making all kinds of noise. Talking loud and truck lights hitting the side of our trailer. We you brake camp be quiet! I may surprise you but everyone else is sleeping.

I've done plenty of stupid things. Learned a lot of "valuable" lessons doing them.
