Thumbs down Jayco After Market Alum. Wall Delay

My REQS361 was involved in a hit and run ( story on my last thread ). An estimate was worked up and parts were ordered. As soon as the dealer started working on it they found some hidden damage and an aluminum wall needed to be mfg. for it from Jayco. Jayco quoted the dealer about 2 to 3 weeks. They issued a ship date. When the date arrived they rescheduled a ship date about a week later. On that ship date they rescheduled another date. After rescheduling three times the service writer contacted Jayco to find out why. Someone told him they would look into it and try to have an answer for him in about 24 hrs. Some one called him back and said that the reason it had been rescheduled was because lost its aluminum vendor. Currently mfg. has been shut down on any aluminum parts until they can contract another vender which they said could be about a month or so.
They kept rescheduling my part knowing that they couldn't build it. I am a full timer and have been incurring hotel bills and now had to move in with someone because it got to expensive. I also have been paying at the rv park even though I wasn't living there to hold my slot based on the info. I was provided.
The next estimated date is Around the end of January.
I sold my house to live in my rv.
Any one have any ideas.

Is the camper livable at all? Can it be put back in some condition where you could live in it until they have a full set of parts? After Fran went through our area we lived with blue tarp roofing and duct tape holding the house together for a long time.

It was live able until I took it in. From the pin box to the left side slide out the skin is removed Some of the frame was cut away to be able to remove it. The slide is also off already. I looked at the repair order and it shows about 10 hrs labor to remove and replace that slide out.
Don't think I can tow it home which is about 200 miles away

I talked with Jayco Customer Service (Donna) and also with Craig in the parts department.

This it what Craig confirmed.
This is the time of the year that Jayco starts ordering frames for their next year prototypes.
The same company that builds the new frames, has to make new jigs etc which takes additional resources.
The same company makes the after market aluminum walls for Jayco.
So for a short 1 month period, after market walls for repair purposes etc would likely experience a 3-4 week delay.
All scheduled manufacturing is not affected by the prototype frame work by the supplier.

FYI,
Doug

Good to know. I was relaying the information that was given to me. I wish that would have been told to me in the beginning instead of giving me shipped dates that they apparently knew they couldn't keep.

Sorry to hear that, thought it was worth asking.

speckfisher,
I thought you would like to get confirmation of the situation directly from Jayco.
They were quick to get me to someone that had the facts.

Best regards,
Doug

What about working with the dealer to provide a used unit as a rental for you? It would have to be cheaper than hotel fees!

Dealer is willing to sell me a used one and buy it back at a good price if I want to do that.
Currently waiting on the dealer to work up some numbers and tell me what a good price is.
Also waiting on the price to rent one as well

Got a call yesterday afternoon. The service advisor said someone named Tanya from Jayco called him and said that my wall would take priority even over new production and that the wall would ship by Nov. 27th.

That's good to know, thanks for posting it. We all move in faith in companies when we lay out our money up front, and it seems like it was well placed with Jayco.

Good news! Really important to get your rig back since you full time.

Best regards,
Doug

Sounds like they are trying! A lot better than the last unit that I owned. Good Luck.
