Jayco Bungalow Destination Trailer (Battery Replacement)

Hello Fellow Jayco's,

I'm new to this forum and a new owner of a Jayco Destination Trailer. We love our new home away from home!

Our 2017 Jayco Bungalow 40BHTS Destination Trailer has 1 battery on the front hitch. The battery is tucked under the front lip of the RV, in the battery box. The issue I'm having is the battery is no longer working and I would like to replace it. But I can not see how to remove the battery as the front lip of the trailer does not give enough space to remove it.

Any suggestion/help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Does the box that the battery sits in unbolt from the frame? Perhaps this box and battery has to come out as a pair.

Are the sections of angle iron under the battery box bolted to the trailer frame or welded? Maybe one of those can be removed so the box can be dropped.

I checked for bolts and it looks like a solid piece. So can't remove any angle iron.

From the pictues I can't see any way of getting the battery box out from where it's at without cutting something. And I'm sure that's not the case. Contact Jayco CS and there's probably a way that not apparent.

The area above the battery is listed as a "soffit" on the floor plan. That might be removeable. The battery wouldn't be located where charging gases could get into a living space.

Edit: Good luck and let us know how you resolved it.

My educated guess is that you need to remove the battery case lid. Raise the rear of the battery case lid, then slide it forward and downward off of the battery box. Then the battery box without the lid will have the needed clearance to be removed by slightly lifting it and pulling it forward. ~CA

Never seen anything like that. We had a Jayco bungalow and had a lot of room for the Battery and propane bottles. I know one thing when you do get the battery out I would modify where the battery sits so you don't have to go through this again.

They leave the factory without a battery so there has to be a way to get it out. The dealer got it in there. I think craigav has the right approach.
