Our Eagle is a 2016 just wrapping up the warranty July 31.Replacing all 4 brakes and seals under warranty. That's the garbage coming from Lippert.Both axles bad, I would be very wary of any Jayco fiver suspension.Lippert just gave us a complete never fail suspension up grade kit. Will install in the fall replace that nylon bushing crap, hotter than ha-ties in Phoenix! Thanks

looked around under my trailer today, realized, there is not a single strap, anywhere holding up my array of pvc pipes/valves, that all come together to the dump point. it can wiggle up and down about 4-6 inches,was it supposed to have a hangar strap??? i will have to get some strap material and make a hangar, before my dump pipes develop a leak and/or break, from wiggling and flexing while I tow.

See the new thread I just put up in the travel trailer section titled "Couple of things to check in PDI . . .". Major issue with the roof membrane and metal siding installed too high causing a sharp edge under the membrane where it is wrapped over the roof edge. And low point drain not installed correctly. Hard to believe that the siding installer, roof installer, and the presumed QA inspector, did not discover the roof thing.

Don’t just put strapping under the pipes, preventing movement downward, which is perfectly acceptable for real house plumbing.

But also remember to cut a 2 x4 and wedge it between the TOP of the pipes and the bottom of the trailer frame to prevent UPWARD movement as well, which can be just as deadly at preventing cracks and dislocations when on bumpy surfaces.

You want to prevent ANY movement of the pipe in ANY direction! Hope that helps (retired plumber)

We just bought our very FIRST RV, a 2011 Jayco Skylark - fortunately for us, we have found no shoddy workmanship (yet!). Was the quality better 7 years ago than it is now?

Across the industry, I think the answer is yes. 7 years, none of the manufacturers were selling nearly as many RV's as they are today. I think with few units being manufactured, the units were coming down the assembly line a little slower, therefore the workers had time drill precise holes rather than just punch through a floor or wall.

In today's market, most manufacturers are selling RV's as fast as they can make them. Therefore, a unit being constructed isn't at a station very long, so the workers are rushed to complete their particular task.

Coupled with the extremely low employment in the Elkhart area now. Now, to get workers, the manufacturers have to hire folks who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

Plus, to get units out the door, I don't think manufacturers are as diligent about fixing problems. They will either rely on the dealer for catch and fix problems before selling, or pay for warranty work. Every manufacturer has predetermined how much warranty work is acceptable.

With the employment rate down overall I'm sure many RV "tradespeople" (yeah, tongue in cheek) who were skilled moved on to better paying jobs and left the newbies to figure it out on their own.

A friend just downsized to a smaller tt from another very large manafacturer and asked me to come over and look at it.

Same story, picked up yesterday. Everything worked and was demonstrated. They did not understand everything.
1st thing I noticed was battery terminals were not tight, battery dead as a door nail, lp drains hanging down under the fresh tank within 6 inches of the ground.

Put battery on charge and will go back later today.

On the plus side, It had Carlisle HD tires.

and I agree. Several years ago I purchased a 2010 37' Designer and I have found very few construction or manufacturing errors. They weren't fastidious in cleaning up after drilling holes and running lines but they did use a drill and not their boot. Now we are thinking about a new or newer unit but because there are so many stories regarding the new units I am steering away from Jayco and Thor..... sad.....

The 2012 Ford 350 6.7 Diesel has been great, however.

Well be sure to look behind the covers in any other brand in the same price category. You'll find they all look the same. Jayco isn't really any better or worse than the others.

Mine had no 'boot holes', all were drilled or a hole saw was used. Visit some of the other mfg forums and you will see the same kinds of complaints.

Heck, even the Airstream folks had plenty to complain about.

Most of the issues could come down to the training given to the assembly line workers. You explain every component is called “nail” and issue hammers.
The required tool is always in hand, required tools are now standard and can be purchased in bulk ($$), no time wasted ($$) laying one tool down to pick up another, training in the use of required tools is rapid ($$), the required tool set is durable and requires no maintennance ($$), construction time is minimized ($$) and number of units delivered is maximized ($$).
Have I left anything out?

But, the workers are paid by the piece (at least the factories I have seen explained). So, proper tool or not they will try to do the job as fast as they can.

No boot holes in are 16 Eagle RSTS looks like mostly hammer holes!
