Jayco's nomenclature....

With the myriad of models/styles/options the Jayco offers, how does one define the particular model that they attach the name/label to (specifically the letters)?

Example (using members models I've seen here)-

330 'RTLS' or...
35 'LKTS' or
23 'B'

Is there a list (On here or at Jayco's site) that specifies what the letter designations are?

I think you have to decipher them! Here`s my best guesses:

BH= Bunk house
S= slide
K= kitchen
DS= double slide
TS= triple slide
RL= rear living room
R= rear, such as rear kitchen
QBH= Quad bunk house

So for example RKS would mean rear kitchen with slide.

and so on

The numbers do not necessarily mean length of trailer, either box or overall. I.e. the 29BHS and 28BHS are dimensionally identical in size.

I agree with the general designation on the letters, sometimes it is hard to figure out exactly what all the letters really mean.
Years ago the numbers usually were pretty close to the length but not these days.
Our 35LKTS is the longest Pinnacle in the lineup today according to Jayco specs at 40' 4" but is not the largest numeric value in the Pinnacle lineup.
The 36KPTS, 36REQS and the 36RETS are all slightly shorter than our 35LKTS according to Jayco, go figure!

Also a couple of items to add,
RE = Rear Entertainment
QS = Quad Slide

In the Pinnacle lineup,

34RLTS = Rear Lounge / Triple Slide
35LKTS = Not sure, Guess it is Laundry Kitchen / Triple Slide (Since Stackable W/D goes in the kitchen area)
36RETS = Rear Entertainment / Triple Slide
36REQS = Rear Entertainment / Quad Slide
36KPTS = Kitchen Pantry / Triple Slide

Sometimes it can be challange trying to figure out the model numbers and how they relate to the actual product.

True!

The exterior length of a 2012 266RKS is a foot and a half longer than my 2000 266FBS-- 29' 10" versus 28' 4".

Add 'F' to the letters as we have a 322 FKS, Front Kitchen Slide, and it is actually a double slide so don't hold the model to the letters in it.

Ours is a 29FBS. The only thing I can guess is front bedroom with a slide. It is a bunkhouse too-the only bunkhouse that I know of that does not have BH in it's designation.

All mentioned above are pretty much standard throughout the Jayco lineup, except the Jay Feather Select line. There is an R, L and a U. I ain't figured out yet what they can stand for. For example, the 28U is a rear living model with front bed.

I was wondering about lettering recently also, but on the jayfeathers. I do get all the letters mentioned above, but wondered about the extra letters such as our 23J. We know there is a 23B. Was there ever a 23A or C? How do they go about picking these letters?

I think the Jayfeathers have a code we have not broken yet ! But our code breakers are working the case.

On my Jayflight Swift SLX 145 RB I figure RB stands for the rear bath.

Well Watson.... I would surmise it goes something like this...... Worker A goes to the cupboard and pulls out a box of alphabets and when he pours it into a bowl, the first letter out becomes the next jayco jayfeather model number.... If a number pulled is already in use, it gets put aside and the next letter to enter the bowl is the winner......at least that's the way my grandson would do it

Another thing they avoid is obscene four letter words in the nomenclature.

We purchased a new trailer, a 26.5 SuperLite HT(Half-Ton Towable) RLS(Rear Living Space). Found out we may not be able to put a hitch on it so we are looking at a Greystone 27RK(Rear Kitchen). However, both of them are almost 30' long, so the numbers in the designation don't seem to mean much when measuring total length of the fifth-wheel.

I may be wrong but I think RLS stands for Rear Lounge Single Slide. My dealer told me that my RLTS stood for Rear Lounge Triple Slide. He told me that a DS meant Double Slide and "S" meant single slide.

rb, you may be right, but I thought it was probably living space since this fifth-wheel has two slides, one on the main floor with swivel rockers in the rear of the trailer and the table and couch in the large slide. Also has a small slide in the bedroom area that carries the wardrobe with either three or four doors. That's why I thought it might be "rear living space". Another trailer I am looking at has a rear kitchen and the designation is 27RK.

I think we`ll send this over to Bletchley Park in England. They broke the German code in WWII. If that does not work, Naval Intelligence, Pearl Harbor. They broke the Japanese code. But this one, especially the numbers, could be a toughie!
