JOF Community Social Groups

Are you aware that some of your fellow JOF members have created Community Social Groups? There are about 50 of them! Just click on the COMMUNITY section and select SOCIAL GROUPS from the drop-down, then subscribe to those of interest. http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/groups/

Anyone can create and manage a new Social Group but unfortunately, the postings don't appear in the NEW POSTS section or on the right list of current postings so we tend to forget about them.

Out of curiosity, what is your experience with the Social Groups? Share your thoughts about this feature/function.

I had seen the 'COMMUNITY' selection a long ago and tried it, but only saw a couple of things and didn't see the point of trying it again. After your post, I went back and tried it again and see that there are 'View All Categories' and 'View All Groups' selections at the lower right of the smaller windows; I never noticed them before. WOW! There are a lot of categories and groups!

Thanks for the tip and a whole new world of stuff to explore in the JOF.

I manage the "RVing With SOLAR" and the "WiFi Signal Extenders" social groups. As with the other social groups there is a lot of information for forum members to read or post their own information. I enjoy just going through some of the groups and reading the posts. It is difficult to get the word out, as the search function does not include the social groups. There are a few posting restrictions like only allowing 1000 characters in a post and no pictures in a post.

I visited to see the solar community, but it seems kind of inconvenient (or I don't understand it too well). The limits on posts cause things to be choppy.

What is the idea out thought behind them?

Is there a way to subscribe to them?

The idea or thought behind Social Groups? Don't know - other than to address focused interests. Perhaps a moderator can answer this question.
How to subscribe? Select a Social Group and look for the gray bar near the bottom of the page where you will find the words JOIN GROUP. Click on it and you are prompted to confirm. You are now a member/user/subscriber to that group.
