Intentionally running poor engine mapping in order to overfuel gives all diesel owners a bad name.
A puff off the light before the turbo lights (builds manifold pressure) is normal, and will actually light the turbo faster than intentionally light fuelling.
Even a light haze under full throttle is fine, although it will run your exhaust gas temps a bit high.
Theres no reason whatsoever to be blacking out roads outside of the drag strip (fuel requirements during racing are far different, generally needing a completely unstreetable turbo (way too big).
