Keeping the plug dry...

So at home I have my trailer plugged in all the time (I am assuming that is Ok) and would like to know how you keep the plug dry as it wont shove all the way back inside the trailer so it just sort of hangs there. It is under the lid but its still makes me nervous with as much rain as we get around here.

I used to hang mine under the trailer over the jack stand. Now I have a 30 Amp plug on the side of my house and plug it into the all weather box.

Mine is plugged in all the time too. Have the trailer cord just outside of the trailer then my dog bone into a heavy duty extension cord. The dogbone is off the ground all rain just runs off I have had no problems. If your still worried put a piece of 2X4 under the plug and set a bucket over the top. The problem usually is if it lays in water.

I'm with the above posters. I have mine pulled out and the plug in stays under the trailer where it stays dry. They sell small tubes that lock over plug connections to keep them weather proof. Any hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards) should carry them. We used them all the time on job sites.

We purchased a little rubbermaid container with a lid and cut a hole in the side. Our cord goes into the hole and we make the connection with the 30A adapter and heavy duty extension cord under the steps. We put the cover on and then put the rubbermaid container up on a few boards to keep it off of the ground. Works great.
