Talking Kid towing and backing

Just got back from a 10 night, 3 State Park adventure.

Convinced my 17 year old to drive with the TT, in the parks a few times. He dis not want to. Nothing crazy a couple short pulls, just a few miles at a time. I'd drive to the park. He would drive from getting water to our site. Or the site to the dump station. Of course he is driving so he has to park it too.

He nailed backing into the site, first try each time. Very proud of him.

He tried backing up last year, when he had his permit, and it did not go so well. Which might have soured him a bit.

Sounds like it was a good confidence builder for him. Well done!

My father started me out with the lawn tractor and trailer combination. That was great training for me. Those small lawn tractor trailers can be tricky to back up. Once I got my driver's license, I found backing up a snowmobile, boat or camping trailer was easier that backing up that damn garden tractor trailer.

Great! My oldest daughter started pulling our camper and flatbed trailer not long after getting her license. Short local trips the first couple years then longer ones. She does a very good job.

Great job!
Having additional drivers is great on longer travel days.

X2, my DW hates to drive. She has only pulled the tt once, about a mile to the dump station. The truck, she's probably has not driven it in 8+ years.

Teach them while they are young while you are there to supervise.
