Kindle and entertainment system

Has anyone hooked up their kindle to their jayco entertainment system for movies, music etc? I know I can plug into the tv via the hdmi cable, but what about music? I was thinking perhaps by the headphone jack, like the ipod. My biggest wish now is that the cg where I store and stay will improve their wi-fi over the winter!

I see no reason why music couldn't be played through the headphone jack of the Kindle. We listen to music that way through our Android phones and our Microsoft Zune MP3 players. As far as video goe, I think you will have to continue to hook up to the TV via HDMI. As far as I know, the USB on the Jensen will only support older genertion iPods or music stored on a flash drive. I haven't tried playing videos from a flash drive....might have to try that just out of curiosity.

DW and I take our XM-Suris radio receiver with us and play it through the Jenson entertainment system. We have the receiver on the roof of the RV and the wire run through the front bunkhouse window. It plays through the inside and outside speakers.

I have the Jensen AWM975 in my Jayco and it has a female HDMI port on the back of the unit that you can plug an HDMI cable in. On my unit you have to pull the Jensen out of the cabinet to attach the cable.

I'm not familiar with the kindle, but if you can plug an hdmi into it to show movies on the TV then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the hdmi to listen to music too. If you can't, then they have a cable that has a headphone jack plug on each end. One goes into the radio, the other into the kindle.

Just looking at the JensenDirect.com website, the HDMI port on the 975 is for output only. It is used to connect the stereo to the TV to play movies - not to be used as an input. Now, you might be able to back-door it. Hook the Kindle to the TV via HDMI and since the TV is probably hooked up to the stereo via RCA cables so that you can listen to OTA broadcasts through the stereo speakers, it would then play through the stereo. That seems like a Rude Goldberg approach and would require the TV to be on all the time. If playing a video on the Kindle to watch, that would be fine. But to listen to music, I think the 1/8" M-M headphone jack would be the simplest approach.

We have an auxiliary cable that we hook to the Jensen stero to play music from an ipad, and sound from movies.
