King Tailgater Pro Antenna Question

Just wondering if anyone else has run into the same problem I am having. I have a 2021 Jayco 24RL. The problem is we bought a King Tailgater Pro antenna to use but it will not work if we hook it up to the input on the outside of the camper. Called the company and was informed that if there are splitters in the line to the TV it will not work. They never informed me of that before purchasing it. Was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem if so what did you do to fix it. Thanks in advance

We are on our 3rd Jayco and what we did to all 3 is drill a hole thru the outside wall where it is close to the place where you are going to put your receiver. Now what I did was go to a rv store and get a connecter and a box for the outside of the camper, drill a hole thru the camper wall. But before installing the connector box install a rg-6 cable to the cable end that goes inside the trailer to where the receiver will set. Then install the box to the outside wall on the outside of the trailer and seal it. Then when you get ready to set up run the cable from the tailgater to the connection on the outside of the trailer. On the inside run the cable from the cable connection box to the input of the receiver then run a hdmi cable from the receiver to the hdmi connection on the tv. Sounds worse than it really is.

The dealer suggested that also but it would void the warranty on the camper.

Call Jayco and see if they have a work around for hooking up. In the case of the Greyhawk the provided a rewire diagram for the Tailgator hookup. It involves moving some cable connections and using one of the Sat connections which does not have a splitter in line.

I posted that diagram in the Manuals section but it probably will not work for yours.

Run the cable from the trailgater in thru a window that is open a little bit and then hook it up to the receiver.

The problem is the king tailgater pro antenna will not work if there is a splitter installed anywhere in the coax cable. On mine there are 2 splitters. King needs to tell you this before you buy their equipment

Here is the diagram that I mentioned. Yours may be totally different but then again, by checking the color code on yours you may be able to track back to a run without a splitter. If you have satellite connections you probably have runs that are clear and using this info you can reconfigure for the King.
Cut and paste the below URL into the Internet bar at the top and it will take you to the info.

If I remember right when I checked on this I was told that the splitters that Jayco uses will not let the 12 volts needed go thru to run the dish to turn and line up on the different satelites. I have also talked to other people that have drilled a hole thru the floor out of the way and ran a rg-6 cable thru the hole, resealed around the cable and ran that up to a spot where the receiver will be and then just hook up the cable from the tailgater to the cable that is outside.

Thanks I will have to look into this. It seems that if Jayco knows this they would install the right splitters.

I have a 2020 24rl and use a tailgater with our sat receiver and it works fine. Hook up the tail gater to the outside sat/cable in port. at the tv there is a wall plate with a loop cable. Un hook that jumper cable. One port goes to the amp and the rest of the tv's the other port goes to the outside sat/cable in port.

All splitters are a type of transformer. A transformer cannot pass through a direct current (12V as an example). All portable satellite antenna's are powered by sending DC power through the connecting coax cable.

Our Eagle RSTS has an Aux jack on the outside plumed to a separate jack behind the living room TV. I use that jack to my sat receiver.

I have a 2017 Jayco 321 RSTS

Here's the quick answer --- I am in the same boat --- here's what i have to do its quick and easy, instead of wasting hours chasing cable and connection's--- this is from Amazon under $10, will get it to ya in a few days, they tell ya to drill a 1 inch hole, but you can get by with a 3/4 no problem just mount the RG-6 cable to it when you are finishing the mount on the outside wall that you are going threw---here's a couple of photos.

My unit is a 2017 321 RSTS, and at that time it did not have that. Recvd this unit April of 2017
