Kitchen Question Girls

Can someone give me some ideas on how to keep the silverware from vibrating together and rubbing off the stainless plating? Something besides wrapping each piece in a paper towel. I'm on my third set over 16 years and just bought a new set and would like it to last. There has to be a simple solution. Maybe it is just me.

Thanks

We don't have any drawers in our trailer, so I had to come up with a different way to store silverware than a tray anyway. I store my silverware in a caddy that basically has four little cups, so they are in there vertically, instead of horizontally. I have the knives in one, small spoons in one, large spoons in one, and both sizes of forks in the last. I have the handles up in all cases, except the knives (because they are so heavy). This leaves the usable end of the silverware down in the container, mostly nested. The cups are not so huge to allow a lot of movement. I've only had the silverware in there 4 years, but no damage to it yet.

There is no stainless steel plating. Stainless steel cannot be plated onto a different metal. You are merely seeing micro scratches on the surface.

Perhaps a dish washer silverware basket like the one shown below would keep your stainless flat ware from becoming scratched during travel.
