Ok I got it open!!!
One tab broke and the other is on the verge of breaking
Piss pore design to say the least.
From what I can determine you have to push in, holding, push up and pull out!! Hard to do with only about an inch to get hands in there. Mine were brittle, why one snapped and broke, the other cracked and almost broke.
I'll now figure out how to keep closed when not in use.
Thanks for the replies, I guess some work and some don't.

Piece of Gorilla Tape.

My guess is they probably were never opened and over time became so brittle making it almost impossible to open without breaking. I would put a little silicone paste on the remaining one to make it easier to open and close. If it were my rig I would replace the vent and then due proper preventive maintenance to prevent it from happening again.

Yup. Entirely possible PO couldn't get it open.

Which is kind of scary if they cooked inside. That's another reason I leave mine open all the time; we cook a lot inside our rig. Lots of people don't, so their requirement to open that vent would be minimized.

Based on the way I use mine, I wouldn't necessarily replace it. Since I leave mine open pretty much all the time, I would just do as another suggested, and when I want it closed, place a small piece of Gorilla tape on it and call it good. Then I'd add replacement to the very bottom of my "to do" list.

I've come up with a fix.
Completely take tabs off. There is 2 screws at each corner that holds the vent in place. I will glue a rare earth magnet positioned over the screws on the flap. Should be better than the crapper flaps doohickies.
I'll update with progress.

I'm not sure, but wouldn't that not allow the vent to open?

The vent lays "closed" naturally until air flow causes the vent to "flap" open (like when you're running the fan in your range hood). If you use a strong magnet, the air flow will not allow it to open, or stay open.

If you want it always closed, that's fine, but if you want it to work as it is supposed to work, I don't think I'd use a magnet.

You've got a valid point, but, I've got that handled, just some sort of wedge to hold open.

Cool.

Mine is too high for that; another reason I leave it open. I could reach it on my TT, but cannot on my MH without a step stool.

It would be nice if they could design it so you could work it from the inside. Kind of like the flue on a chimney.

I opened (unlocked) mine when I first got the 355 a couple years ago. Been that way ever since. Like Bob said, too high to try to lock and unlock all the time. The flap stays closed unless running the vent fan anyway.

I found turning the fan on helps so that when you lift the tabs it helps open the flap!

Two tabs on the bottom. Push up with your thumbs at the same time and it will pop loose.

Re: opening exhaust vent

I bought a telescopic boat hook from Amazon. I can operate my vent...both opening and closing on my Alante. Also handy for pulling out blocks under the levelers. Fits along the drivers seat when stored.

Yep. We popped the outside vent open 10K miles ago and never closed it again. Just not worth the effort or bother.
