Last Trips of the Season

Had a five day trip a week ago. Was very nice - weather was beautiful for October in Virginia. Rained one day, but it was still nice as I sat under the awning and read a book I've had for awhile and not touched. That perfect weather where the campfire at night felt just right to take off a slight chill.

Next weekend we are going for two nights and this will be the "winterization" trip. Kind of sad, but I am not into winter camping, for several reasons. One, we store at a campground all winter as limited space at home, and it is too far away to be able to keep it "unwinterized" to be able to use and then have to winterize again when we leave (we can get pretty freezing temps in Dec thru Mar) and also because I have other activities I take up in the winter. I camp from April to end of October. That is enough for me. But still yet, that last trip is both fun and sad as it is always during the time the campground has their halloween festivities, and the decorated campers are a sight to see, but sad we won't be there for a good long time. I also decorate my campsight during this halloween weekend and it is just a really fun time if weather isn't bad. The kids come to the sites for trick or treating, and since my kids are now older, its fun to watch the little ones in costume.

When is your "last" trip, or do you camp year 'round?

LOL, good for you! And what do you call it?

Back in the days I had a house in the country and didn't store the TT, we did take some trips in the winter - one CG had a NYE special with a huge NYE party they threw in the restaruant. That was fun. And we'd take a few other weekend trips. But it is too difficult now with it in storage a good ways from where we live.

My last trip is in 6 days for 6 days in the Castle Rock area Wisconsin. Last year it was 23 at night, the year before it was 33. Just hoping for 50's this year.

Castle Rock is nice, but just a few miles from there is a state park called Devils Lake. The park is totaly booked April - Sept year after year. While your in the area you should check it out. This is the web site with pictures of the park.

We're heading out next week for our last 'hurrah!' of the season. A few days during the week will fill our end-of-the-season camping lust. We'll be celebrating our first anniversary (10-10-10) while on vacation and thought we'd throw one more trip into our plans. Can't wait!

We had our last trip of the year mid Nov. Normally do trips year 'round, but the rig is in the shop getting some body work due to a tire blow out, and we probably won't get it back until late January, will probably be camping again by February.
