You'll many that reply no and many that say yes. I leave my gas on while traveling. My frig runs on gas/elec not battery. So when traveling place to place (we do a lot of boon-docking) when there is food in the frig I leave on (note: we never travel without food in the frig.)

When we traveled with our trailer, I would shut the propane off. We run the fridge on electric alone. Don't need propane. The last couple of years we've been seasonal campers. When we leave I always turn the propane off. This way, if a squirrel or some other rodent chews the gas line when we're not there, the propane won't potentially leak out.

We leave the gas on while towing for the refrigerator. Our shower is small and can only keep the tank water hot for one person. I am considering replacing it because the other Jayco you could have three people get showers in a row. But this new trailer nope. So for us? We do leave the gas on to keep the fridge cold.

I know this is a late reply and not consistent with the other posts , but - We once left our camper for a short time with the propane on as was normal for us. When we returned, a neighbor thankfully had shut off my propane after a squirrel had gnawed thru the exposed hose and propane was blasting thru the campground. I now turn off propane, and water, when I leave for more than a few minutes, just to be safe. Only takes a minute.

Yes, I turn off propane when stored and during travel. D.O.T. states I have to remove regulators and cap my oxygen and acetylene tanks while the work truck is moving. I don't need any Darwin awards.
