LIPPERT buys FURRION

From RV Business:

In a move sure to shake up the RV industry, LCI Industries today (Aug. 4) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lippert Components Inc., has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Furrion Holdings Limited, a leading distributor of a large range of appliances and other products to OEMs and aftermarket customers in the recreational vehicle, specialty vehicle, utility trailer, horse trailer, marine, transit bus and school bus industries.

wow!

I'd love to see the financials behind that. I had *guessed* the two guys behind Furrion were in it for the long run. I guess they got "a deal they couldn't refuse."

LCI will basically be responsible for 75% of the components in most trailers.

I liked it better when Lippert didn't own everything.

And to me, that is a big issue, since RV MANUFACTURERS have no control over those components and no other place to go. We see it all the time with complaints and warranty issues. JAYCO and all others get blamed for the problems.

I wonder if FURRION got in over their head and just needed the capital to keep going.

This is how it is for all OEM's, I wish more people understood it.

I would tell people if you can't see it it's Lippert, if you can see it it's Furrion. Now it's all LCI. LCI and a lumber yard and you have a trailer.

Here's a follow up in another story:

LCI Industries Reports Record $1.1 Billion in Net Sales for Q2

So they are obviously in control.

Can we say monopoly? Prices are gonna go up….

So really what a trailer should now be called is “LCI assembled by Jayco”….or LCI assembled by [insert brand name here]. Exaggerating for effect, but it’s getting there…. How soon will Thor buyout LCI?

I'm glad my frame and axles are Dexter. Or does Lippert own them too.

Frame may be LIPPERT. Dexter sold that division off to Lippert in 2011.

A "C" class company purchasing another "C" class company. Let us hope that Lippert can make Furrion products worth the money we pay for them.

Not a fan of Furrion? I don’t have any Furrion products, nor have I had any in past rigs (that I know of or can remember).

There are other options. The first time I ever saw anything made by Furrion was in the Entegra. My Sunseeker and Challenger had nothing made by Furrion. The stoves were Dometic and Microwaves were Whirlpool.

There are other options.

But with all the mergers those are getting slimmer and slimmer.

With that said if a Dometic stove, Whirlpool fridge or Micro, or Norcold product fail the RV manufacturer is still blamed and they have no control over any of those products.. They are called every name in the book no matter what brand they provide

That is my point.

Oh boy, lousy TVs and radios now made by an axle company. That ought to really boost the quality of these gems.

Or Welcome to Camping World, would you prefer your LCI assembled by Thor or Forest River today?

Exactly. An LCI trailer wrapped in the graphics of the brand of you’re choosing.

On a good note, depending on how they structure it, it may be good having one central company you contact for issues on all your stuff. My experience with LCI replacing an axle was pretty good last year.
