Lithium battery heater

Any ideas what I should get?

I have 2 100ah battleborns on the front of my trailer. I am going into some pretty cold weather and will need to keep them warm.

Thanks!

I have seen battery heater pads on Amazon. You will need to insulate them. Check that your BMS has low temp cut off. Charging below freezing will damage lithium but using is no problem.

Insulate them? They are each in an enclosed battery box.

The ones on Amazon, the battery just sits on it?

We lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for 5 years and everyone used battery blankets. They are 110 volt. I found these on Amazon but I would imagine our northern state/Canadian members are familiar with something similar.

I would still insulate the entire box and use a thermostatkly controlled heater, maybe a 12 volt plant grow box heating pad in the cold weather. I have 2 battle born 270ah batteries and unfortunately I did not get the temperature protected version. One would have thought at the price they charge for them that they would have all the bells and whistles!

My batteries are group 27 size, 28" won't cover the whole battery but I can't find a longer one. Will this be ok?

One other idea I had was to try to close off the area with some foam board or something where the batteries are and just put a work light in there.
Would this work?

I would think that if most of the battery is heated and the rest is covered in some sort of insulation you should be fine. Unless you are camping or driving in really sub-zero weather, you should be fine. As I suggested, perhaps some members that live in extremely cold winter areas can offer sources of better battery blankets. They were readily available in Alaska.

UGH!!! So I will be on the road Sunday heading to the cold. I cannot find one of those blanket wraps that will get here before I leave.

Crunch time!! Go buy enough regular heating pads you use on your body and I am sure you can figure how to hook them up! A lot better than the alternative $$.

I like this idea. I found one on amazon, not auto shut off on low....I can get them before I leave. But it's only 10 watts on low, is that enough???

Using them along with the other insulating suggestions from others will help retain the heat.

How about going to a local auto parts store! My diesel has an oem 120v heated blanket that wraps the battery.

I've got two left over from a job. You can have them if we can hook up some how. I can post pics if you're interested.
