I once visited someone in a swanky up-tight subdivision and was told I couldn't back my car into the driveway--it had to be parked with the rear end pointing at the street. Can anyone tell me why someone would even waste their time making such a rule?

I hate hoas I inherited a privately owned campground spot back in 2002 I was staying in one RV when we decided to go check[ out the campground out. Spilled in around dark first thing next morning I had the campground president show up saying I could park two TVs on my lot that I own. There was a class b van parked next to a travel trailer a lot or two down but they didn’t count that since it wasn’t plugged in it was just a van. I live in NM this was in Ga o I didn’t give in easy I did move up my departure and unplugged my RV the gas ran out and made a mess in the fridge. I ended up giving the existing trailer to my dad who lives around an hour from the campground mainly for his wife and they paid all fees, dues, taxes etc. after she passed my step brother wanted it so they got the trailer from my dad and I gave them the lot for Xmas so it was out of my hair since I rarely to plan to go there if I did I would have had to sell or trash the existing trailer before I would use the lot the associated prevents renting the lots out unlike most of the other campgrounds in the area so the restrictions make it hard to sale for a fair market price. So it was either give it to family or let the association take it over.

The only places I've seen that; were where no front plate is required on motor vehicles. Backing in would make your plate invisible to the whomever snoopy person was snooping around as to what cars were in whose driveways.

It’s called Combat Parking. It’s probably a dangerous neighborhood, and they make you park that way in case you have to leave quickly. Muhaha

Folks here on our neighborhood Facebook group have debated whether the city would be appeased if they put a cover over their RV. That way, it would not be visible.

Sure. Hiding in plain sight or forest for the trees.

thank god our city ordnance says that RV's are allowed stored at a residence if they can be secured secured behind a fence. Living in a desert community, 90% of home lats range between 3/4 to 5 acres. Most everyone here as RV's parked on their property.

I believe that you can also use the argument that unless EVERYONE of those other rvs & boats were ticketed, then this is selective enforcement. You could ask for the towns statistics on how many rvs/trailers have been ticketed in the last 5 years. I remember a case here in NJ where the ordinance was throw out because of lack of prior enforcement.

A cover that is to look like a privacy fence? My million dollar idea. Digital camo? No body would see that.
My hoa states no chickens or metal roofs. Horses, cows, and pigs are allowed.

Update on local rv parking issues

Met with 2 representatives from our local planning commission about the violation we received for parking our 212qb on our property.

Thanks to several people on this user group, we have won our appeal, and we will now be able to take our 2021 212qb out of storage and bring it back home where it belongs.

Several issues that we presented to the county included the following:

The ordinance isn't uniformly enforced. Apparently, the law considers that as discriminatory and unequal treatment .

The Supreme Court found in favor of the homeowners in a very similar case. See the posts below for the case law reference.

The code cited in the violation was enacted well after my home was built. By local law, my residence should have been grandfathered.

We did agree, in good faith to move the trailer 15 feet further back from the street at the suggestion from the county staff. We weren't required to do so, but the gentlemen from the county were very supportive, professional and sympathetic.

Again, thanks to all of you !

We are.....wait for it.........Happy Campers!!!!!

Human beings with common sense!

Great to hear there was an agreement made, and even though you had them on the ropes, you gave a little too. Wish more people used common sense. Usually the selective enforcement crushes any enforcement.

Congratulations! Nice to hear you prevailed. Just one question, did you get in writing so that a new city council or planning commission can’t reopen the complaint?

Route 66: Not in writing........yet!

Decision just made yesterday, so I'm giving them a few days.

Also not moving the camper......yet. I think there's a pattern here?

DW and I are grateful that we can bring it home.
