Looks like there's a new Chevy tow vehicle coming

Chevrolet's new medium duty Silverados are a huge surprise | Fox News

Problem is, unless things have changed, there's no plan for an LTZ or High country version.

If they are reentering this segment, you better bet that there will be a gas engine option to accompany the diesel in short order. The current Ford F650 and 750 gas powered trucks are selling quite well in that segment. I can't imagine GM not following suit.

Not something I see in my future. I am surprised the chevy 6500 didn't come closer to matching the GVWR of the F-650, missing the mark by 6500#.

At the point you need to have a truck this big to tow an RV is the moment you should consider just buying a vacation home. Any RV that’s big enough to need this as a tow vehicle is one that shouldn’t be moved around enough to warrant a purchase of this thing.

It’s even more likely that this all occurs at even the need for a 5500 series truck.

My two cents...

It's not so much need as it is comfort level. That's why, those who can, buy semi's as a tow vehicle. The cab of our 08 SENECA on the 5500 KODIAK chassis was very roomy. I would love to have one to tow with.

If I needed something this big I would buy a used semi. Much more bang for you buck.

Pretty much my thinking as well. Sounds like a solution trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

No offense to those who choose to tow a rolling hotel, I'm all for people having the freedom to do as they please. BUT if you can't tow it with a 2500 or 3500 diesel already available on the market, you are most likely going too big / heavy.

Yeah I was wondering what people tow with for a high end 5th wheel such as a DRV Mobile Suite that grosses out at 24K. Isn't that above F-450 territory?
