Lost 1/2 tank fresh water on mountain road
It was my first trip for new to us 2016 Jayco Octane Super Lite 161 Toy Hauler.
As soon as we started incline, my friend, who was driving behind me, called and said that there is water coming out of my trailer.
Quick inspection revealed no obvious leaks so we moved on.
In my side mirror I was actually able to see the spray on every right turn only!
It was impossible to pinpoint exact spot, but I'd say it was towards the back of the trailer, somewhere in the middle (vertically)
I realize there is a vent somewhere in the tank, but loosing half a tank seems excessive.
Has anyone had similar experience?

I had the same on my 174BH...though my water was running out the door. The inlet hose on the pump was a 'hand tighten only' fitting, and it came loose mid trip. Lost about half the tank on a couple hours drive.

Lots of threads about siphoning out of the vent.

Maybe check the fill hose and make sure it's tight on the tank.

There is an overflow drain towards the back drivers side, looks like a flat flexible tube. Find a way to plug that while driving. Some people managed to get a ball valve in place, some find a way to clamp off the flat tube i.e. using a large paper binder clip. I use the paper binder method, clamping about 3/4 of the tube. Either way you go, make sure to remove the method used when refilling tanks..

Yep
Not the same RV but I lost 1/3 tank of fresh water between fill station and campsite, about 1/4 mile, and by the time RV was leveled. Water was coming out the 1/2" vent tube, not the flat tube overflow. Crawled under and temporarily stuffed a wad of paper towel into the hose. Since, I have extended the vent hose and installed a garden hose ball valve that is easy to reach. I always leave it open unless I'm losing water.

Very shallow water tanks . The nature of the design. We installed 1/4 turn valves on the ends of the over flow tubes.

Very common issue. Lots of posts on the subject. Basically is is a syphoning affect.
The resolution for me, was to locate the overflow tube inside my TT. I raised it as high in the cabinet as I could, with keeping the pipe hanging out below the floor. Strongly recommend then using a cable tie or somethin to keep it in place.
Other people have added sharkbite valves, to the end of the hose. This can be troublesome. If you have a gravity filling system you should be OK, but if you have a utility command center, you can get into a trouble if you forget to open the valve while fill or using the tank.

Thanks everyone for tips and links. I don't have access to the fresh tank plumbing, so will try to close the drain valve. But I suspect that water is coming out from the screened area next to fill valve.
