Low Point Drain Leak

The red tube on my low point drain is constantly dripping when I’m hooked up to water. Anyone know how to stop it? It filled up an entire bucket overnight.

Is it the pull up type valve? If so open and close it a few times, maybe a small piece of debris stuck in it.

It is a pull up type valve. If I push down on it, it’s stops dripping, but if I stop, it pops up a bit…causing the drip. Any fix suggestions?

We have the same type of valves on our TT, and the hot side has developed a drip twice in its 11 years. There are two very small rubber o-rings on the valve plunger, and if yours isn't 'clicking' and staying down when you close it, then the o-rings will need to be replaced and a light coat of plumbers' grease applied to them so they slide in place better.

Shut off the water supply, and open up a faucet to relieve pressure.

Be VERY careful to remove the tiny stainless clip from the valve side. DON'T drop or lose it, it's not magnetic to retrieve. Then you can lift the valve T out. You'll see the o-rings, and any good plumbing or hardware store should have the same sizes. There are two different diameters for top and bottom.

The job isn't hard, but did I mention to guard that stainless valve clip with your life??

Another fix is to add Sharkbite valves underneath to the pipe ends and leave the inside valves open.

Welcome Aboard!. When mine started to leak, I removed the metal clip (do not loose it, you cannot buy replacements). I cleaned the O-ring and re-assembled. Worked fine for a year. Next year, same thing, I added a little plumber's grease to the O-Ring, same thing. Next year, I bought Watts brand (similar to Sharkbite) push to connect 1/4 turn valves and installed up stream of the OEM valves. I have never had a problem since.

Good Luck
