Maiden Voyage

Howdy all,

Tomorrow morning I set out on the maiden voyage for my new-to-me Jayco. I'm leaving the frozen tundra of northeast Nebraska and heading for warmer times in Arizona. I won't miss the snow during Christmas. This will also be my first chance to check out the plumbing in this used Jayco Designer 3430RK SS. I'm starting to get excited !

RVREV2, do you have internet while on the road? How is the trip going? Take plenty of photos and share 'em with us please.

Howdy all,

I am back. I was welcomed home with 5 feet of snow in front of my garage. I should have waited a few more days to come back. The vacation didn't go as planned or hoped for, but the Jayco exceeded our expectations. We came to realize that we could actually live in this thing, and comfortably too. Dog and cat had a good time, with the exception of the dog being attacked by a jumping cactus. Poor thing.
Just 80 miles from home we hit a patch of black ice on the highway. It was bad in just one county (Polk County, NE). Everywhere else seemed to be okay. We ended up in the ditch, and had to be towed out. It just happened so quickly! No cruise control and running 10 mph below the posted speed limit, and I still ended up in the ditch. The highway up to that point, and once out of that county, was dry and in good condition. No damage to the Jayco, and what damage I had to the truck should be taken care of next week (and I just had the front end aligned last month!).
I had to re-winterize the rig before heading back north. This was my first time doing this on this rig, so I hope I did it right. I did take pictures, so as soon as I figure out how to post them, I'll get them out.
Thanks.

Howdy all,
Here is my attempt to post pics from my maiden voyage to Mesa, AZ. We stayed at the Usery Mountain Recreation Area near Mesa and Apache Junction.
