Maxxis Tire Question

2013 Jay Flight 22FB with OEM tires. Want to upgrade to new set of Maxxis. Thinking about the 205/75R15 8PR.

Wheels are Dexter 017-143 rated at 2150# at 80PSI.

Anyone have Maxxis on comparable wheels and is my choice the appropriate tire?

More then likely you have load range C tires. Go up to D as I did and you should be good to go. They can be inflated to 65psi instead of 50. My upgrade;

With 80psi rims I would go with E load range Maxxis.

Your tire dealer can answer that, they well not install a incorrect tire

Crabman hit the nail on the head. I went with load range D, 205/75 r15. I run 64psi and watch the pressure as I run, with my TPMS. Got rid of the Blowmax tires after research on the JOF and installed Maxxis 8008s per this forum. Couldn't be happier or safer.

I did exactly what the Crabby guy did. Went from load range C to D Maxxis tires, and never felt better. I keep them at 65 psi and roll on down the road. After 5k miles, they still look almost like new.

Ditto. Have 4K miles on LR E Maxxis with no sway, wear or heat issues that were experienced with Tow Max LR D.

Placed order for Maxxis 205/75R15 8PR M8008's today at Discount Tire.
Should be in and ready for install in less than week.

So everyone seems to be on the Maxxis bandwagon. We have had our TT for two years now. The original Towmax tires are still on there and are in great shape without any abnormal wear. I have been doing my homework on a replacement tire. I will replace these this coming spring. What about Carlisle tires? One thing I have noticed is whatever size Maxxis you get, the speed rating is still 65 Mph. The Carlisle radial RH Trail tire has a speed rating of 85mph. The prices are about the same too. I'm not sold on them yet, but I'm looking at them.

One other note on the Towmax tires, I have noticed in my travels, the shippers towing new TT to the dealer destinations are usually traveling faster than 65mph. So during shipping, I think damage is being done prior to delivery to the customer by exceeding the speed rating. This is where I think Towmax tires get a bad reputation. I do think however manufacturing plays a role too. Heck! The date code on my tires is from late 2013!! So they were around before being installed on our TT.

I replaced mine with the new Carlise HD, a very good looking tire. Maxxis tires are hard to find in Ontario. So far so good

I have those newish Carlisle's on the trailer.. 3 blowouts so far.. 4 years old lots of tread left on them, always properly inflated and I NEVER go over 65.. This fall on my way to Arizona I will be putting Maxxis on
