What is the max charge rate/amps of your converter?

The recharge cycle section is an interesting read

reminder "140amp/hr at 50% is 70amp/hr"= 10a x 7-hours= 5a/14-hours...= CUT usage= extended battery life? Where is YOUR Usage?

Hmmm.
This thread seems to be missing the simple thought that the undersize wires on many trailers reduces the effective charging current to the battery from the converter. On some trailers, I've seen a 50 amp WFCO converter deliver only about 8 amps to the battery measured by a clamp on meter at the battery. This is with the battery discharged to 50% ish....

Plus, remember, WFCO converters also will time out on the bulk charge after about 4 hours. They say it's a safety thing!

I'm running 2 GC2 batteries giving me a full 100amps of usable power. I charge with a Honda gennie plugged into the 3 pin 30 amp cord. I'm all LED inside and use the heater through winter. That said, I still run the gennie for 4 hours in morning then 100 watt solar suitcase for rest of day. I'm always back up to about 95% by end of day...?

If my trailer wasn't sealed underneath, I'd replaced that small 12 volt cable from battery to converter into a much larger one. I wouldn't lose as much current as I do now.

Food for thought...

That's the Progressive working for you!
I'm looking into changing my WFCO out as well to Progressive. Better charging!

I emailed Progressive out of curiosity on the amp charging. There is a max amperage rate for each charger, but the battery determines how many amps to pull, not the charger pushing a specific amount of amps for the bulk charging phase.

If you reach absorption phase in the 5hrs that you are charging which decreases the amps from bulk to prevent battery damage/sulfation, having two batteries would allow you to charge at a higher amperage rate longer, giving you a higher overall stored power.

If you are charging at 45amps with a single battery (now) during the bulk mode, adding a second battery will only double the time charging to reach the same % SOC as you are charging two batteries (same amount of power going to two batteries instead of one). If you are charging at a lower amperage rate than 45, adding another battery should increase the amperage charging the batteries and you will increase the amount of power stored over the same period of time as the single battery (more power going to two batteries than a single) even though your SOC could be lower than a single battery.

230amp charged on 280amp/hr battery = 82% SOC
90amp/hr remaining to 50% SOC

120amp charged on 140amp/hr = 85% SOC
50amp/hr remaining to 50% SOC

In the above example, you have a lower SOC for the two batteries but more overall stored power to use so they would last longer than the single battery.

Broken battery to camper connection?

One night while hooked up to electric some of our running lights came on during the night randomly. To get them to shut off we I hooked some of the wires and found a problem with the battery connection to the camper. After disconnecting to get the running lights to shutoff now the piece will not reconnect. Thought we might need to replace the part but can’t find it at a parts store ?? I have a picture but can’t seems to upload it
