Memorial Day

We live near the beach but usually don't go there on Memorial Day due to the crowds. We have made it a practice the last years to try and watch the PBS Memorial day concert on tv and this year was the same. Hot dogs with all the trimmings are another Memorial day tradition.

We reflect unashamedly on the ones who gave their lives willingly to assure out American lifestyle and traditions remain intact.

Hope you all enjoy this day!

Our local community was able to have the annual Memorial Day parade through town. Not a great pic, but here is my daughter in the band.

Have a great Memorial Day everyone.

I too stay close to home on Memorial Day, I attend a wreath laying and watch the PBS concert. Then a quiet day with family cooking on the BBQ.

It is a wet rainy day here in N Texas, I have indoor plans though.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Getting packed up to go camping. Remembering.
And not feeling too bad for those who camped this weekend in the pouring rain and temps that never left the 40's! There is a conga line of RV's leaving

Thunderbirds flew over the house today after finishing the airshow today. Always an awesome sight.

Thought of my dad that was in the Navy off shore on a LST during D-Day
and of course the others that served and lost their lives to protect us.

Thinking and thanking all who have served, and those who gave their ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
