Milepost mileage sync

Did a search and did not see it here. Going to Alaska starting from Alaska. Purchased the 2022 milepost, getting as much information on the sites.

My question is how can or has anyone used an app or idea on how to sync the mileage or odometer reader to match the mile post so I use the milepost information to match the mile or odometer reading ? Or am I over thinking this.

Any ideas or tips would be awesome.

Thanks in advance

I am not sure I even follow what you are thinking but I will tell you mile posts are not always a mile apart. So syncing the odometer to them is pretty much inaccurate.

Going to Alaska starting from Alaska means for a short trip. Otherwise, mile markets are a reference, but as noted aren't exact, so your odometer will never exactly correspond to the markers. Furthermore in States like Texas and most others, the exit #'s roughly correspond with the mile post closest to them, while in Ga. the exit # and the mile marker do not correspond, there they (exits) are just numbered chronologically.

The milepost referenced in the book matches the milepost on the highway.

It is written from south to north as if you were coming up from the lower 48. Some mental gymnastics are required if somehow you are in northern Alaska and heading towards the lower 48.

This used to be true in GA, no longer. MM and exit numbers are in sync.

Too bad they don't have an app to sync with GPS.. i think you would go though the book, note your favorite mile post and plug them into your favorite GPS route planner.. Would love to see them come out with an App though..
