Minneapolis RV Show

Went to the Minneapolis (I mean Camping World) RV Show today. Was shocked at the lack of diversity of brands and the price points. Not 1 single Jayco was on site.
Usually at a show you see some pretty good discounts on the models. Even the small section that had their merchandise was fairly high priced. 40% of the show was used models! I have never seen used at a show before unless you go to a dealer's lot. They had a few motorhomes on display but none of them were diesel pushers and only had 1 class C. There was a big section with 3 dozen finance specialists to get you into an RV today! The only good this about this show was the free admission. Needless to say I won't be going back to another CW show again.

The Kansas City RV show was a couple weeks ago. I didn't go and haven't talked with anybody who did, but prior to the show five dealers that make up the KC RV Dealers Association were advertising on TV and Radio that they were boycotting the show. Instead they were having sales on their lots.

There was a story in the newspaper about it. Apparently, the RV show raised the rates by a bunch this year.

We went yesterday. It was fairly sad. Glad it was free!

Here's what I wrote earlier.

I have a boat dealer friend who told me that he gives his best discounts at his dealership, not at boat shows. There’s a lot of cost for a boat dealer to be in a show. He has to make up that cost somewhere. I presume the same would be true for RV dealers.
