Moab Utah Memorial Day and week after

I am planning a trip to Moab this summer and we will be there May 25- June 1. Just wondering if any of you have been out there that time of year. I know Memorial Day weekend will be busy, but just wondering about the next 5 days after. Any info on the area would be great also. We are planning on staying at Moab Valley RV for the first 4 nights, then hopefully Dead Horse Point for two before we head back. We will be booking this week and are trying to finalize our plans.

There are some great hikes in the park and around Moab. it will probably start to get warm by then, so take plenty of water. You could spend a week just photographing Arches. Since you are going to stay in Dead Horse park, catch Mesa Arch(Canyonlands) at sunrise.

We went there last Spring and stayed at Dead Horse State Park. Fantastic CG with great walking and bike trails. Hope you get a spot there!

We LOVE Moab! My wife and I made it out there with our camper in 2012 as part of the Colorado/Utah vacation. Great place. We got there in early September, so it was still in the mid 90's during the day.

We stayed at the Canyonlands Campground in town because, after a great day of mountain biking, the beer at the Moab Brewery hit the spot. Next time we go, we may try a little boon docking along the river.

You might want to check the temperatures for that time of year. We just adjusted our schedule so we did the majority of our mountain biking in the early morning, our driving tours (Arches, the Colorado River) during the day and the town of Moab at night.

I hope you have a great time there! The views from Deadhorse Point are super fantastic.

Joe

PS Depending upon how long you plan on staying, you can easily do side trips to Mesa Verde and even Durango, CO (Durango & Silverton RR!).

I have stayed twice at the KOA 5 minutes south of town...has always been clean and w/out issues. but then again I don't go there to sit
at the campground....too much to see and do near Moab.

Agreed. The campground was just a place to sleep in Moab. From rafting, 4 wheeling, hiking, climbing and, of course, mountain biking -- it is an outdoor paradise. After a full day of activity there, you are usually too tired to do anything but sleep at the campground.

We can't wait until we can get back there.

Joe

PS And don't discount walking around the shops and eating in town. Moab has a great vibe and a lot of neat stuff in town.

It's sad. We have lived 3 hours from Moab for 5 years, and have only passed through. Time to plan a trip.
