Mods for keeping sewer caps in the bumper?

I was wondering what you guys & gals do to keep your caps in the rear 4in bumper from coming off and losing the sewer hose. Sometimes while driving down the Interstate I'll see a sewer hose laying off to the side and I would rather not have that happen. I've seen some different styles at CW and wonder if they really work. Drill a 3/16 hole in the top and bottom, through the metal and rubber. Make a 6 " "J"hook out of coat hanger or similar and stick it all the way through.

I don't have the 4" bumper on my new 228 but on my old trailer I just took my drill and drilled a hole from the top, thru the bumper and cap. I then dropped a linch pin in to each side and never a problem again. See pic.

I drilled the bumper in 2 spots and tapped the steel and placed 1/4-20 thumb screws in them. I did each side at 90 degrees to each other so I have 2 thumb screws per side. I also drilled holes into the rubber cap so the screws hold them in place.

Depending on the situation, they can be very valuable!!

In all seriousness, I used to store it at a storage facility and didn't want to take any chances. I know a sewer hose is the last thing someone would probably steal, but you never know.
