Mods: Grab bar for shower
I want to put a grab bar or two in my shower. I have searched the forum and do not see any threads where anyone has done this or at least not mentioned it.
I have put many in homes and have the know how. Just wanting some first hand experiences and a picture in a rv shower.

I never added one to the shower, but did install on the wall going in. The suction cup ones work really well, we use them in our rental unit. We also have friends who use them in non accessible hotel rooms.

I agree with Grumpy, my brother recently had a stroke and was staying with us at our home. We needed some grab bars in the shower and we bought a couple of these ones from the link below. They worked amazing, my brother is also 265lbs and they were able to help him in the shower.

We purchased the same one's as Grumpy. What I discovered was that in our TT the shower wall had dimples so we could not count on the suction. I permanently installed them by using window and bath caulking to seal them. They have been there for over a year, no cracking, no separating, and they are very strong. In addition, if we ever need to remove them for any reason, it can be done.

My wife had some health issues last year so we bought 4 of the suction cop models listed above. They are fairly secure in our tub at home, but every once in a while we hear a crash and one will fall off. She uses them to "steady" herself, but I sure wouldn't rely on them to hold myself up, especially if i were over 200 lbs. If I pull hard enough on them they WILL fly off, suction or not.
IMHO the tub walls in an RV are too flimsy to hold a handle. I put one on the door frame and it works OK. It does require that i pull back the shower curtain a few inches to access it.

Thanks for the comments. I don't think the suctions ones will be satisfactory on the wall in the shower due to the the way the material is attached. I am going to get a couple and try and attach them to a couple of studs after figuring where inside to locate them.
My shower is all glass except for the 2 corner walls.

I hope they work on my tub surround. I ordered on from Amazon today.
I guess I can send it back if it does not work.

The one I ordered for my 23RB did fail to work. I remembered it to be smooth, when I ordered the suction cup mounted grab handle. In fact it has a fine pebble surface.
However, it did work on the door to the bathroom. And that door is right next to the shower entrance on my 2017 JF 23RB. Definitely close enough to work for the purpose of having a grab bar to assist getting into and especially out of the tub.
And the suction releases and the grab handle can be stowed away when not needed.
