Move fast for Senior National Park Pass

If you are or will turn 62 by the end of July, make sure you get to a NPS site and purchase your lifetime Senior Pass by close of business on July 31.

Until July 31, the lifetime pass cost $10. Effective August 1 the cost jumps to $80. The pass will allow free entry into US Fee areas (National Parks, Monument, National Wildlife Refuges, etc) and can offer a discount on camping, tours, etc) for Senior Pass holders.

From experience, you can take 4 adults in one vehicle into a fee area at no charge. Glenn Canyon National Recreation Area gives a discount on their annual boat permit when you show the Pass.

Think about it, get into Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone and other parks at no charge. Possibly get a discount on camping.

Take advantage if you can. And enjoy our National Parks.

I got mine 10 years ago for $10.00. It was called the Golden Age Pass then.

Best money I ever spent with the government.

My wife and I each got a pass. We tend to have large family gatherings and our home is near Glacier National Park. Seems like each time the kids and grandkids come they want to head for the park. With the pass, free admission is by the carload (up to seven people). We will ride in separate vehicles and everyone gets in for free. Great deal. We have used our passes all over the country for either free or reduced admission. Even the arches in St. Louis. When the cost goes up to $80.00, it will still be a great deal. But why wait? At 10 bucks it just can't be beat.

Also if you are a disabled there is a free lifetime pass available. I am long way from being a senior but picked up the Access Pass for being a service connected disabled vet. I don't think there is a minimum disability rating though in the case of a vet. It also doesn't have anything to do with handicap plates or pass. For instance I don't have or qualify for handicap plates but in the eyes of the government I am still permanently disabled so I qualify for the pass. Also having the pass doesn't allow you to park in handicap parking spots in the park unless you also have plates or other ID from your DMV. I just took in my form from the VA that states my rating and they gave me the pass.

I got mine! You can do it online for an extra charge. There is only one place near me to get the Senior Pass, Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY. Total cost online was 20.00. $10.00 for the Pass and $10.00 handling fee.

Senior pass increase date

Attention: The cost of the Senior Pass will increase from $10 to $80 beginning August 28, 2017. Senior Passes that have been purchased before this date will still be valid. Find out more about
changes to the Senior Pass and read the press release regarding the senior pass price increase. This comes off of the NPS Shenandoah web site.

*This information will change on August 28, 2017. As of August 28, 2017, the options for purchasing a Senior Pass will be:
  • Lifetime Senior Pass: $80
  • Annual Senior Pass: $20, if purchased for 4 consecutive years, these passes can be exchanged for the Lifetime Senior Pass.

We got our Senior passes years ago. Great deal. We have used them several times a year. This is one great bargain from the government....there aren't many of those.

X2 However, I was under the impression it was %100 disabled. In any instance had mine for over 10 years. Best government bargain ever.
