MPG's with cab high bed shell cap.

Does anyone have verified mpg numbers when a cab high cap was added to your tow vehicle.

We've had cab high caps on the last four trucks, but they were installed almost immediately, so I really can't give you a comparison of any mileage both with and without one. We have a Bedslide in the rear for the ease of loading, and unloading the camping gear, so a cap is necessary for us.

Thanks' for the reply. Do you have a 5th. wheel or travel trailer. I have a 2018 336 FBOK and only average around 8mpg towing with my 2018 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi.
Thinking of adding a cap for extras on our Florida snowbird trips.

We have a much smaller trailer, and tow with a F150 SC 3.5 l twin turbo, that replaced a Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 V8. The Tundra would average 9.5, to 10.5, depending on the wind and hills. The F150 has averaged a little over 12 mpg on the last three trips, and pulls much better. Unhook the trailer, and it almost doubles.

We never tow with the cruise on, and always use the tow/haul mode.

Thanks again I had a F150 3.5 when I towed travel trailers. Great combination but 5th. wheels are a different animal.

Best thing you can do for mileage is slow down to around 60mph, and don’t use cruise control.

I guess I'm a little confused. You want to put a truck cap on, but tow a fifth wheel now?
