Mud Flaps

Appreciate any comments on real-world experience with Rock Tamers or something similar. Are they worth the price, do they really work, etc.

Need to do something as I'm afraid of damaging the front of the 5er from all the debris that kicks up (already have a couple of small nicks), especially when it rains. The WeatherTech flaps I have on the truck now were a waste of money.

Thanks in advance!

I have one I purchased from CW. I put it on my 2 inch ball drop bar so I could also use it for towing my boat. It's not rock tamer brand and covers the whole back of truck and clears ground by 6 to 8 inches. It's heavy but it works now that I modified it. I had to cut out the top center section to reach the electric hookup for the boat. I also added a 1 inch angle support across the middle to take out the funny looking s shape. The shape didn't hurt its functionality but it hurt my eyes.

It's better than fender install mud flaps but it's another thing to put on and take off. You can just leave it on the truck but it's going to limit you on back in parking in some situations.

Good luck.

Mine are homemade from tractor supply mats and some angle. It slides into the hitch and is held in place with pins. When connected up the ride right at ground level.

Rock Tamers here. Wouldn't tow without them.

This is what I put on my TV for both towing and everyday use.

https://duraflap.com/

You can go with long or short. They are rigid as well, so no flexing with the wind.

Update

Thanks all for the input. Ended up with Rock Tamers and towed with them for he first time yesterday. Got some rain, and then a bit of mud in the campground, but the front of the rig is still nice and clean - exactly what I wanted!
