My hubby has a question!

As we were shopping yesterday for some camping accessories, my hubster wondered about buying a lock for the hitch ball. I thought that would be a great question for the forum: Has anyone heard of a trailer being stolen from a CG? Even with a coupler lock, bolt cutters would take care of that. What are your thoughts?

I always lock our 5th wheel pin whenever and wherever I unhook from my TV.

I have a Reese hitch coupler lock on our new TT. It's a little added protection

There's certainly no harm in having a lock but if someone wants it, they'll find a way to get it, lock or not. Of course, I am a believer in "make it difficult for them to steal"... so I lock my propane tanks, bikes, batteries, doors, etc.

In the past 30 years we have owned RV's we have never put a hitch lock on them. And we never had one stolen but I guess there is always the first time.

We don't lock ours up, nor have we ever. I figure that if they want it, they will take it. Heck, maybe they'll do me a favor

I have a coupler lock on mine. I use it when hitched or unhitched.

I just put a master lock on the coupler to make it harder. Same thing I do when I am at home and the TT is on it's pad next to the house. Like others have said, if somebody wanted it, they could still get it but at least i'm not just giving it to them.

Can't even find the key to the door, thieves can get in without any damage to the tt.

I throw one of those yellow Reese coupler locks on there while at camp or parked in front of the house. I've heard of TT's getting liberated from seasonal storage yards but none to my knowledge from a campground or someones front yard.

We use one. Figure if they want it that bad they're going to make a little noise getting it.

We have a coupler lock on ours for two reasons. First, when I hook up it gives me peace of mind that I have properly connected everything before heading out, its part of my walk around. Second, I don't want to take any chances of our trailer walking away at the camp ground, not that it will

I guess it would depend on the fine print.

We have a reese yellow coupler lock because our trailer when it is in storage. Really, I think it is only for my peace of mind. Not sure what it really does. I think this was a discussion last year and someone had a youtube clip where the lock was picked in 30 seconds.

While camping we don't lock it. We have a hybrid and it takes me an hour to pack it up. If someone wants to pack it up and steal it all the power to them. I bet my golden would help them.

Cheers

I use a pin lock on our 5th wheel both at the storage yard and at the CG.

Yes, we do! I insisted even though we own outright. More so to protect ourselves from liabilities with others.
