NO WAY, you mean the dealer gave him wrong info! Shocker!
I’ve always read and heard Slides should be all the way in when in storage, and if in a full time Setting when always in an extended position, they must be exercised and lubed regularly.
Find some photos and prices for repairs on the internet of bad seals, maybe that will convince him!

You may have a point there. A year ago they accompanied us on a trip to Tombstone, AZ. Their TT was a Coachman they bought used, and as such had no owner's manual. The second day at the RV park we noticed they were using the parks restrooms for everything, shower included. When I asked about it they said they had no hot water and didn't know why. Turns out they didn't know where the switch was...I turned on both the electric and gas and they quickly had hot water.
When we got ready to leave I noticed he was having a heck of a time hooking up his weight distribution hitch to his tow vehicle. He hadn't taken any weight off the hitch with the tongue jack so it was almost impossible to get it connected. Much easier using the tongue jack...said it took him over an hour to hook it up at home, and he had to use a bottle jack
Live and learn....

Slide out

Is there anyway I can convince him that what he was told by the dealer is wrong and that he is risking leaks due to dried out seals?
How do store your RV, slides in or out? Mine are always fully retracted.

Dried out seals are not the issue here. Sealing out weather is. If the slide is not fully out, the inner seal is not effective. It must be fully open or fully closed to seal out weather.

It’s amazing what idiots these RV salesmen can be. They know nothing and don’t want to learn.

Dealer (rep/ salesman) was a dummy giving out bad info, but Further, he is storing with wipers ONLY and NO seals sealing, and water damage from such actions will NOT be warrantied?

He now has the slide fully retracted...mostly due to the comments made by this forum.

well, i guess that aint like them nylon belted tires that got the flat spots, is it?
I guess the slide wiper seals are made of a buna nitrile "rubber that dont care, unless you leave it in south Texas sun forever, then the tires would likely die first. after myself, from melonoma...
I dont see a problem. that material should be good for 10 years at least
lets not talk about all the trash/rain . / dust . . . coming in over top of slide---
those seals are tough.

More like "Know nothing, never owned a RV, NOT taught anything, but expected by employer/ customers to be experts?"

The compression damage to the seal over its lifetime is far less than the water damage as a result of not making proper contact seal!
