Need help with power jack
I would like your thoughts on something. I am ready to install my new Barker VIP 3000 power jack. My questions
are...
1. Do I need a cutoff switch between the jack and the battery to prevent battery drain?
2. Is the jack adversely affected in any way when the trailer is plugged into electric at the campsite?

Never heard of anyone installing an inline switch. However, an inline fuse would never hurt, and you could pull it if you were concerned about a power drain from the jack.

My electric jack came with an inline 30 amp fuse. Just connect the jack motor wire to the Positive on your battery and you're set to go. The negative (ground) is made via the bolts that hold the jack to the A-frame. The only time you are draining the battery is when you use the up/down switch on the jack. Otherwise there's no load drain.
Electric jacks are becomming standard on many new RV's.

Hook up the jack with the wires provided and do not worry.

Be sure to scrape the paint around the bolt and use the supplied washer to insure a good ground connection.
