need to clean water tank before first use?
need to clean fresh water tank before first use? or just let water running for about 10 minutes by turning kitchen sink faucet on, and the city water will flush the water tank clean? thanks.

I have attached the pages from my owner's manual on how and when to sanitize the tank. Yes you need to do it now. You will be adding a bleach mixture to the tank.

I think it depends whether you intend to drink the water from the tap and/or fresh water tank. If you do I would recommend sanitizing both. We also filter our drinking water out if the tap

I sanitized mine when new and every time I let it sit for a while. Once you use it there will always be some moisture in there and crud could grow. We don't drink or cook from the tank but who wants to wash in possible bacteria. In the plant the tank might sit there for a long time with holes in it that might have let crud, insects or manufacturing trash get in it.

You seem to have a lot of newbie questions, which is normal. You could do all of us a BIG favor and please list in your signature line if you actually have a rig, which model, or what model you're thinking of buying. This would really help everyone who's trying to help you, as there are many issues that aren't universal to all rigs.

My tank got sanitized when it was new and again at the start of every season. I also take out the water filters in the system and sanitize all the lines. Once sanitized and flushed, I drink from mine. Never had any issues.

We sanitize every spring and then again before winter storage just to be safe.

Have been fortunate to not have any issues, we do drain after each trip and flush for a few minutes when heading out again.

On the original question, I would think it's a very good idea to sanitize and flush a new tank... you have no way to know how it's been stored or handled, previously.
After all, if you buy a new coffee mug, would you drink from it without cleaning it?
